Sushmitha Bhat is an Indian actress and dancer, who works predominantly in the Kannada films and television apart from a few Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil films. Popular for the Kannada TV series Kavyanjali, she made her feature film debut with the Telugu movie Natyam. She received critical acclaim for portraying the character Nanditha in Gautham Vasudev Menon's Malayalam-language debut Dominic and the Ladies' Purse and Ambika in Love Marriage.[1][2][3]

Early life

Sushmitha Bhat was born in Chennai, raised in Udupi and Bengaluru. She is of mixed Tamil-Kannada origin. She is an Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate [4] and a trained classical dancer.[1]

Career

In 2020, she signed into play lead role in the Kannada soap Kavyanjali in which she plays the character Anjali.[5]

She made her debut in the 2021 dance romantic drama Natyam, directed by Revanth Korukonda, where she played the role of a supporting dancer.[4] In 2024, she was part of two Kannada films Kaljiga [6] and Chow Chow Bath.[7][8][9][10] She made her Malayalam debut with Gautham Vasudev Menon's mystery comedy thriller Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, opposite to Mammootty and her Tamil debut in Love Marriage.[4] At the same year, she played an absent heroine in Pranav's Diés Iraé.
