History and production

Suzuki eVX concept car, which previewed the design of e Vitara

Suzuki introduced the e Vitara on 4 November 2024, in Milan, Italy. The vehicle was previewed by the Suzuki eVX concept, which was first showcased at the Auto Expo in India in January 2023. The Toyota version, the Toyota Urban Cruiser was introduced on 12 December 2024.[5] The styling of the Urban Cruiser was previewed by the Toyota Urban SUV Concept shown in December 2023 in Europe.[6]

Specifications

The e Vitara is claimed to be developed on the Heartect-e electric vehicle "skateboard" platform, developed to provide increased structural integrity and a lowered centre of gravity. Two battery options are available: a 49 kWh battery pack delivering 106 kW (142 hp; 144 PS) and a 61 kWh battery pack producing 128 kW (172 hp; 174 PS). These battery packs utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade cells produced by BYD and Tata.[7][8] The top variant of the e Vitara is equipped with the AllGrip-e all-wheel-drive system, offering 135 kW (181 hp; 184 PS) and 300 N⋅m (30.6 kg⋅m; 221 lb⋅ft) of torque, with adaptable drive modes tailored for various driving conditions. The eAxle technology, created in collaboration with Toyota, is integrated into the platform.[9][10]
