Svibnik (pronounced [ˈsʋiːbnik]; German: Swibnik[2]) is a settlement immediately west of Črnomelj in the White Carniola area of southeastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.[3]

The name Svibnik (and related names such as Svibno) are derived from the Slovene common noun sviba 'dogwood', referring to the local vegetation.[4] The settlement was known as Swibnik in German in the past.[2]
