Tali Japua is the current General Director of the Abkhazian State TV and Radio.
Japua was born on 29 November 1956 in the village of Chlou, Ochamchira District. In 1977, she graduated from the philology faculty of the Sukhumi State Pedagogical Institute. From 1987 until 1990, she taught at the department for Abkhazian literature of the Abkhazian State University. From 1990 onwards, Japua worked as research fellow and senior researcher at the Abkhazian Institute of History, Language and Literature.[1]
Member of Parliament
In the November 1996 elections, Japua successfully ran for a seat of the 2nd convocation of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia. She served one term, until 2002.[1]
