A heads up for those who think there may be copyvio issues
Much of this article was copied verbatim by at least one other website (http://silverhawkauthor.com/1-canadian-air-group-canadian-forces-europe_367.html) so content was NOT copied from this page or any other page for WP use for this article. A common occurrence these days. I know this since I was (one of) the original writer(s). BTW, when this page was moved/consolidated, some references were left out. I'll try my best to try to retrieve them. -- BC talk to me 21:50, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
Combined Aerospace Operations Centre
I think there is some confusion about CAOC's relationship with 1CAD. It is my understanding that 1CAD and the rest of RCAF are organizations for training and maintenance of operational readiness, that is they conduct exercises but not actual operations. Operations are done by Canadian Joint Operations Command and its subordinate units. The confusion arises because the commander of 1CAD wears additional hats: he is also commander of Canadian NORAD Region and Joint Force Air Component Commander, which I believe fall under CJOC. So he reports to commander RCAF in relation to 1CAD but also reports to commander CJOC for those other roles. Note that in Organizational structure of the Royal Canadian Air Force CAOC is under the heading of "Also reporting to Commander of 1 CAD/Canadian NORAD Region/Joint Air Force Component" and not grouped with the actual units of 1CAD. It doesn't say which of those other roles CAOC belongs to, but JAFC would make sense. Note: I am not an expert or a military person, just a civilian Wikipedia editor, so I accept that my understanding might be inaccurate or outright wrong.
