Recent Reverts
The article has recently been repeatedly edited by an anonymous editor adding garbage markings without explanations or edit summaries. I have reverted it a couple of times and warned the editor on his talk page. He replied to it here: under the December 2025 section. I'm copying my latest reply here too, since his IP/talk page changed in his latest edit.
- The curly braces {substitute ...} marking is neither correct English nor a valid wiki formatting code. It only adds garbage to the opening paragraph of the lead of the article, which should be objective and succint per MOS:OPEN. The use of Aadhaar as a synonym for the ID number/card within this system is obvious from the article. UID is a widespread acronym for unique ids in information technology, and predates Aadhaar by several decades.

- Agree that the IP editor is edit warring and being contentious.
- Nevertheless parts of the edit are worth keeping. Web-searching "UID card" "India" gets a lot of hits. Some of them are Indian government web pages referring to "Aadhaar UID card", others are blog posts and other user-written content referring to the Aadhaar card as "UID card." So I think keeping "UID card" as a common name for the Aadhaar card is likely the correct thing to do. But we should find a reference. -- M.boli (talk) 16:26, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- I've updated the article to include "Aadhaar UID card" and "UID card". This part of the IP's request made sense. The other parts I've omitted: a) Putting "UID in the translation of the slogan was weird, because "Aadhaar" is a proper noun. B) There is nothing about this phrase which is specifically Indian English. Let's hope the disruptive editing stops. -- M.boli (talk) 14:54, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
