General comments / concerns
Lead
...where he served as both a starting pitcher and relief pitcher and spent time...
- Repeated use of "and" here makes the sentence choppy. kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Bernero spent time for both the Phillies and Royals in the 2006.
- "the 2006"; "for" should be changed to "with", and "the" should be added before Royals. kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
Early life
- I'd add some info on at least when he was born, so it is in text, and perhaps some information on his family. See Jack Suwinski as an example. kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
Professional career
- Not actually a concern, but the Tigers vs. Braves Denny's conflict would be a great DYK hook in my personal opinion. kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
Wetherby apparently forgot..
- Well, did he or did he not forget? kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Bernero finished with a 1.57 ERA in 57 and a third innings, good for second in the International League.
- Assuming this means second-best ERA at the time? It's a bit ambiguous. kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)During that stretch, Bernero carried a 2–11 record, with both wins coming in relief. During this stretch
- Recommend changing the beginning of the sentences in that area so that you don't get a back-to-back "during this / that stretch". kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)...a May 10, 2003, piece from The Grand Rapids Press compared Bernero's 4.87 ERA and no wins with Toronto pitcher Cory Lidle's 4.94 ERA and five wins.
- What is the relevance of this? kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)- Did nothing happen between that one-year stretch of winless starts that is worth adding? Seems like an odd transition to go from June 2002 to June 2003 in one paragraph. kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
Bernero was optioned back to Colorado Springs on August 14
- Any reason as to why? kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Indeed, following the spring,
- Following spring training? kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Bernero was reinstated from the DL on September 10
- Abbreviation should be specified prior to being used. You can either change it to "disabled list (DL) with elbow inflammation" or just keep spelling out disabled list each time. kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

@Jordano53, good work. It is of GA quality, just need to address the concerns listed. Cheers, kline / talk / contribs 03:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Kline: Thanks for taking this on! I added more details about his family, added some info about his spring in 2003 (earning his spot and all that) and fixed up all prose concerns. I was not able to find any reason for the drop to Colorado, no news sources went in depth. One could argue his stats were too poor but it would be speculation. Rescued the URL as well and added alts/captions to photos. Let me know if/when anything else comes to mind. Jordano53 05:45, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
