I decided to edit this page so as to make it more brief, without losing any substance. There are too many animal examples, and bizaare phrases. I think this might have been taken directly out of a book. Anyway, if anybody thinks I am being biased, tell me. I am doing my best to remain fair. Glorthac (talk) 18:51, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

- It was taken out of a book. I am a little surprised that it's lasted as long as it has—I originally intended to trim it down myself, but I was kind of daunted by the length of the article and was hoping that someone else would take a crack at it. Kabbalism as a brand of Jewish mysticism is significantly younger than the Basilideans. Does this "fact" have a citation?

Article contradicts itself
Earlier on, the article says the crucifixion was necessary according to the Basilideans. Later, it follows the accusation of Ireneaus and the brief passage from a Sethian (not a Basilidean) text in saying they believed Simon of Cyrene died in Christ's stead whilst he laughed. First one is from Hippolitus while second is from Ireneaus.These Fathers don't explain about Basilideans on identically just as it is said earlier in the article — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.172.233.105 (talk) 00:40, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Basilideans → Basilidians – Per WP:COMMONNAME: the spelling "Basilidians" is more common in English and also closer to the standard Latin and Greek names for the members of this sect: Basilidiani (in Mediaeval Latin) and Βασιλειδιανοί Basileidianoí (in Byzantine Greek).
