Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Coromantee. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20090930064245/http://www.nationaltrust.gov.gy:80/historiccummings.html to http://www.nationaltrust.gov.gy/historiccummings.html
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

Mass deletion of text reverted
I have reverted the mass deletion of text and insertion of WP:UNDUE, WP:BIAS and WP:TE by blocked IP user as likely WP:SPA. Similar changes were made to several related pages: Afro-Caribbeans, Afro-Jamaicans, Coromantee and Tacky's Rebellion.
Having compared the diffs to see if there was anything worth keeping, I have manually restored anything with RSes or which improved prose (if there was anything). Most changes were poorly sourced and added significant bias into the article, or simply removed existing information for no policy-based reason.
For transparency, I will post this on all affected pages. Lewisguile (talk) 17:11, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
Etymology revisions
There are some problematic revisions in the Etymology section. There seems to have been an attempt to rework and simplify the paragraph that previously read as:
"As a result, many states surrounding the Slave Coast began to participate in the trade, with states such as the Fanti Confederacy allying with the British Empire to capture members of the rival Ashanti (with these captives being sent to British colonies such as Jamaica); whilst the Dutch allied Ashanti Empire would capture members of the rival Fanti (who were often sent to Dutch colonies such as Surinam).[6 - Edwards] The name Coromantee, or Cromanty, therefore originates from the town of Kormantse (Abandze) and nearby Fort Cormantin, which is the location where the abducted Cromanty were held before being taken to the West Indies.[7 - Crooks]"
The last edit preserving this language was: 01:34, 17 September 2024
This was modified to:
"The name, in both Jamaica and Suriname, is derived from the Fanti town of their imprisonment known as Kormantse. The Fantes and British captured their rivals the Asantes and these captives were sent to British colonies such as Jamaica. While Dutch Komenada Fantes allied themselves to capture British allied Fantes to Dutch colonies such as Suriname.[1 - Edwards]"
The editor also reworked the first paragraph of the "History" section and incorrectly moved it to "Etymology," and eliminated the three citations from the original paragraph and incorrectly applied the citation #7 from the previous edit of the etymology section, which was a source regarding the etymology (Crooks), to apply it to the text moved out of the history section about their warrior culture, which previously cited Robinson, Long, and the article "Tacky's Revolt."
I would suggest reverting it to the earlier edit, or using that as a basis to revise it for succinctness / simpler language, but I don't want to add to the citation mess myself when I'm not familiar with the source material. I fixed the grammatically incorrect sentence "While Dutch Komenada Fantes allied themselves to capture British allied Fantes [who were sent] to Dutch colonies such as Suriname" to restore the original meaning, but did not attempt to fix the rest.
