Talk:Cozonac

Both names (cozonac and козунак) are valid. According to the Romanian etymological dictionary(definition of cozonac), the origin of the word is Greek (ϰοσωνάϰι or κοσωνάκι), the diminutive of ϰοσώνα/κοσώνα (meaning "doll"), due to the shape in which this cake is sometimes baked. If we were to follow the etymological principle, should we change the name of the article to Kοσωνάκι then? Mentatus (talk) 14:12, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

The current text states that panettone's recipe "was shared and adapted in Eastern Europe following the Roman occupation." This claim is chronologically incoherent. Panettone is a Milanese pastry documented no earlier than the medieval or Renaissance period, centuries after the Roman occupation of the Balkans ended. The Roman occupation cannot have transmitted a recipe that did not yet exist. The sentence should either be rewritten to remove the causal link to Roman occupation, or removed entirely. A lot of the article is poorly written. I am sorry if I myself have contributed to this, I am still learning editing. The broader comparison between panettone and cozonac as structurally similar breads may be worth retaining, but only without the false historical framing.
