In an effort to consolidate and update the content of this article, I suggest renaming the existing "Notable deals" section to be "Portfolio companies," and reworking the included information, perhaps like this:

Portfolio companies

In 2016, ECP invested in Sunnova Energy Corp.^[1]

In August 2017, ECP led an investor consortium including Access Industries and CPP Investment Board.^[2][3] to invest in Calpine^[4][5].

In 2021, ECP bought Liberty Tire from the The Carlyle Group.^[6][7] That same year, the firm also bought Pivot Energy, a solar development company.^[1]

In 2022, ECP bought the UK waste management firm Biffa.The transaction was completed in January 2023 and Biffa was delisted from the London Stock Exchange.^[8][9][10]

In January 2023, it was reported that ECP was working with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank to establish a Japan decarbonization fund.^[11]

Hi Californiabri19. I think it would make best sense to re-work any new language into prose, rather than making this section a combination prose/list. For the section rename, if we're now including "subsidiaries" we should make clear which activity was undertaken by a subsidiary, which subsidiary, etc., which I'm not clearly seeing in the above. Californiabri19 I've reviewed all content and sources and they certainly check out, but I have to say the draft provided above looks highly similar to the existing language, except that several details have been omitted from the above (largely financial figures). As such I'm not sure this change, wholesale, would be an improvement to the page. Can you draw my attention to differences, beyond the section re-title, that would benefit readers?

Pegnawl, thank you for taking the time to review. The draft I provided focuses on ECP's portfolio companies, with the intention of moving the 2007 Energy Future Holdings acquisition to the History section. Similarly, it adds the 2016 Sunnova acquisition, as well as the purchase of Liberty Tire from Carlyle and Pivot in 2021. This information is not currently included in the article. ECP has had two recent developments that I would like to include in the article. These are my requests:

• Add to the the Portfolio section:

In May 2024, ECP finalized the acquisition of Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure. The sale helped Algonquin Power and Utilities reduce debt and revamp their capital structure.^[1]

• Add to the Background section:

In May 2024, ECP closed its fifth round of equity funding, ECP V, with commitments of $4.4 billion and $2.3 billion co-investment capital.^[2]

In March 2025, the ADQ and ECP forged a $25 billion partnership to invest in U.S. power generation and energy infrastructure for data centers and AI projects. The partnership aims to provide 25GW of new power capacity; the partners' initial capital investmetn was $5 billion USD.^[1]

• To the 3rd paragraph of the Portfolio section, add a sentence about the sale of Calpine:

In January 2025, ECP announced the sale of Calpine to Constellation Energy for $26.6 billion, the largest private equity exit in the power and utility sector in two decades.^[2]

• Also to the Portfolio section, add:

In December 2024, Orsted divested its 50% equity stake in three US projects to ECP.^[3]

  • At the beginning of 2026, ECP announced the sale of three power plants totaling 2.6 GW of natural gas generation capacity to Talen Energy.^[4][5]
