Energy accounting software is very similar to energy management software. (Technically, probably accounting is a subset of management). At this stage there isn't much point in separate articles. Suggest we combine them to facilitate development/growth. Zodon (talk) 08:05, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Another user has undone the merge of Energy accounting software into this article, with no explanation. If you think there is reason to maintain separate article on that subset of energy management software, please explain and discuss it here. Thank you. Zodon (talk) 03:24, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
In opposition to one of the above comments, Energy Management Software is an integral component of an Energy Management System. An Energy Management System comprises both hardware, software and control solutions to manage and reduce energy within any defined boundary and is not restricted to Utility networks. The new ISO50001 standard supports the continuous improvement of an organisations Energy Management Systen (EMS) and is aimed at the full commercial and industrial sectors. http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail?csnumber=51297

With respect to Energy Accounting Software, whilst the data contained in Energy Accounting systems is widely used for Energy Management purposes, there are many organisations whose primary use of an Energy Accounting System relates to managing energy and utility transactions. E.G. automating the receipt, validation, processing and payment of utility invoices. Such systems are also used to calculate bills for tenant recharging. Since this use case does not strictly feature as part of an energy management system, merging the two would not be appropriate.
