- Yes, it appears to be a solid-rocket launch motor. I would imagine it detaches after launch. The only photos I can find of an FP-5 in flight are of it launching, where this is clearly a solid motor (https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/08/18/7526741/ ; https://euro-sd.com/2025/10/major-news/47194/ukraine-extends-deep-strike/). I cannot find a photo of an FP-5 in cruise flight (unsuprisingly). There are various renders of one that both show, and don't show, the launch rocket, but nothing that seems reliable enough to be a source. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 15:21, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- Actually, the second video on the Pravda.com.ua page shows the launch motor burning out, followed by a large object falling away from the missile. That will be the launch booster detaching. Again, I'm not proposing that my home-grown analysis of a youtube video constitutes a reliable source. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 16:12, 21 May 2026 (UTC)

- A few videos and screengrabs circulated on social media June 10th showing what was reported as a FP-5 in flight, and yes nothing below. A better photo would be nice but unsure if any public domain images exist now. I saw one on flickr but wikimedia didn't like it. Lacanic (talk) 23:28, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

Section "Operational history"
