- What I think should be changed (include citations):
I'd like to propose the following additional paragraphs to the Gobi Partners article in order to update it. It includes information about Gobi's activity in 2025:
In 2025, Gobi continued to expand its geographic and sectoral coverage, opening a new office in Seoul led by Managing Partner Dan Chong to create more commercial ties between ASEAN and Korea (https://www.techinasia.com/news/gobi-partners-opens-office-seoul). It also entered Japan through a partnership with JR East’s TAKANAWA GATEWAY Link Scholars’ Hub (https://technode.global/2025/11/28/gobi-partners-expands-to-japan-with-jr-easts-takanawa-gateway-link-scholars-hub/).
In Southeast Asia, Gobi focused on investments in semiconductors, deep technology, and artificial intelligence. It invested in startups like SkyeChip, a Malaysian semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) design company (https://www.techinasia.com/news/gobi-partners-invests-malaysian-chip-design-firm-skyechip), and led a funding round in NanoSkunkWorkX, a Malaysian deep-tech startup developing manufacturable graphene systems for applications including green hydrogen production, semiconductors and diagnostics (https://technode.global/2025/07/30/gobi-partners-invests-in-malaysian-deep-tech-startup-nanoskunkworkx/). Gobi also backed Cortical Labs, a biotechnology startup based in Melbourne, with engineering and manufacturing operations in Malaysia (https://technode.global/2026/03/04/malaysia-based-gobi-partners-invests-in-cortical-labs-expands-biological-computing-hub/).
One of Gobi’s investment areas is technology originating from universities in sectors like deep tech, AI, robotics and biotech. In 2025, Gobi partnered with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Investment Corporation to launch the Gobi–RIF Fund (https://fintechnews.hk/35937/funding/hkust-gobi-redbird-innovation-fund/) , focused on commercialising university research. The firm also partnered with The University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Investment Corporation to establish the HKU Entrepreneurship Engine Fund. (https://technode.global/2026/01/29/gobi-partners-to-double-down-on-uni-tech-expects-close-of-2nd-pakistan-fund-in-2026-qa/).
Other fund launches in 2025 included the Gobi Meranti ASEAN Growth (MAG) Fund II and Gobi United Fund for cross-border investments in Asia. (https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/viewpoint-thomas-tsao-gobi-partners-467797)
- Why it should be changed:
The page is outdated by more than a year and does not fully describe Gobi's geographic and sectoral coverage. I'd like to make sure it accurately represents the firm's current activities. Please let me know if there are any changes I should make.
