Government of Guangdong (disambiguation) → Nationalist government of Guangdong – This article seems useful but is not a disambiguation page as it contains prose and references. What is its best title? Government of Guangdong redirects to specifically post-1949 history, a separate topic. - Comment I have been very active on articles related to the various governments of the Republic of China. I would recommend (and would be interested in carrying out) a rewrite of this page into a proper disambiguation page. It seems like this page was translated from the Japanese counterpart, hence why it feels out of touch for a disambiguation page.
- As for the name, I recommend Guangdong government of the Republic of China per WP:CONSISTENT with Guangzhou government of the Republic of China and Wuhan government of the Republic of China. It is misleading to use "Nationalist government of", since one of the listed governments were in opposition to it. Wasting time is still my passion (talk) 10:44, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you. I agree that "..of the Republic of China" would be a better title. However, I think the page should remain a list rather than becoming a disambiguation page, because it contains valuable references (not allowed in dabs) and the entries in the list do not correspond to other articles. - Given the date ranges, here is what each government is referring to.
- The First Government of Guangdong is the Constitutional Protection junta
- The Second Government of Guangdong is the Guangzhou government
- The Third Government of Guangdong is the Army and Navy Marshal stronghold
- The Fourth Government of Guangdong is the Nationalist government before it moved its capital to Nanjing during the Northern Expedition.
- The Fifth Government of Guangdong does not have an article in the English Wikipedia. I might try to translate it over at some point, since it seems to be quite detailed on the Chinese Wikipedia.
- In order to preserve the references, I can see if the information provided can be moved to the individual pages of each government. Wasting time is still my passion (talk) 01:02, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you. Those links are useful and should probably be added to this article. However, they refer to governments of the whole of China and generally don't mention Guangdong. Although this is a good place for them, they wouldn't be valid entries on a disambiguation page, because they are not alternative meanings for "Government of Guangdong". - They might seem like governments that have jurisdiction over the whole of China, but in reality, the governments I listed were de-facto based in Guangzhou, Guangdong. These governments existed during the Warlord Era, when there were many competing entities (governments, cliques, armies) within China. The first three governments I listed were all based in Guangzhou and failed to gain control. The fourth managed to breakout and moved the capital to Nanjing during the Northern Expedition.
- So while these governments may not seem like a "Government of Guangdong", they were de-facto governments that were based in and mainly confined to Guangdong. Wasting time is still my passion (talk) 22:12, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
