- What I think should be changed (include citations): Paragraph 1: He was accused of sexual abuse by several dozen of his female followers; an investigation called the Olive Branch Report found the allegations most likely true.[4][5]
Section 2: Allegations of sexual abuse -
In 2019, Yogi Bhajan's former secretary Pamela Saharah Dyson published the book Premka: White Bird in a Golden Cage: My Life with Yogi Bhajan, reporting that she and other women had sexual relationships with Harbhajan Singh.[31]
In March 2020, the Siri Singh Sahib Corporation commissioned An Olive Branch (AOB) to look into allegations of sexual abuse and rape of female followers and assistants. The AOB report, published in August, found that it was "more likely than not" that Yogi Bhajan raped three women, injured eight women during sex, engaged in nonconsensual touching of nine people, showed pornography to minors, used sexually offensive language, directed women to shave their pubic hair, and directed women to have sex with other women, that his followers' claims that he was celibate were inaccurate, and that he "employed a variety of methods to control his students including compartmentalization, quid pro quo, promises, threats, slander, phone calls, guarding, and/or telling women they were his wife."[32]
The report acknowledged "the convictions of Yogi Bhajan's Supporters as accurate representations of their beliefs" rather than deliberate falsehoods. Soon after, other media published stories based on the report that considered the allegations to be true.[33][34][35][36][37][38] The 2023 book Under the Yoga Mat by former member GuruNischan includes testimonials of traumatizing experiences shared by former members.[39]
- Why it should be changed: Reason #1 - The main "proof" of the allegations against Yogi Bhajan, cited repeatedly in media articles is the "Olive Branch Report" (OBR). A subsequent investigation into said report by Barbara Thompson, a lawyer and experienced investigator based in the same state (Pennsylvania) as the Olive Branch organization. In Ms. Thompson's report (BTR), she cited numerous significant failings of the OBR. Among them, the OBR investigators were not legally qualified to conduct an investigation, the proceedings were conducted in an unprofessional and biased manner. A detailed critique of OBR may be found here: https://fairinvestigation.com/analysis-of-the-aob-report/. The Thompson Report (BTR) may be found here: https://fairinvestigation.com/the-thompson-report-2/ Reason #2 - The main accusor and organizer of the campaign against the legacy of Yogi Bhajan, Pam Dyson has proven herself not to be credible. a) She participated in a smear campaign against Yogi Bhajan in the 1980s for which she was paid to testify against him in court. When this gambit was exposed, the case did not go to court. b) In 1994-95, Pam Dyson returned to Yogi Bhajan's community in New Mexico with the expressed intention of reconciliation. She does not mention this in her 2020 book which purports to be an expose of Yogi Bhajan's misbehaviour. In fact, Yogi Bhajan forgave Pam Dyson in 1994-95, but his staff would not allow her to resume her previous high position in the organization because of her betrayal. Under these circumstances, Pam Dyson left Yogi Bhajan's community a second time. The twisted story of how Dyson's 2020 false allegations took hold is told in the following article: https://www.gurufathasingh.com/worm.html
