Additional sources
Aside from the Arizona Law Review source I mentioned above, edits from Luiysia yesterday have pointed to some additional sources I think are worth emphasizing on the talk page, to help balance this article away from the promotionalism it has suffered from.
- This is an article in the Washington Post, part of a whole series on homeschooling. It goes over quite a lot, as do the others, likely. From this article I learned of two more sources from people that take a critical eye of homeschooling boosterism, and others may be pointed to in the others in the series:
- This is a review article in an academic journal.
- This is an entire book from the University of Chicago Press entitled Homeschooling - The History and Philosophy of a Controversial Practice.
Clovermoss, you'll probably be interested in this. I don't have a lot of time to edit this right now, but I hope this proves useful. Crossroads -talk- 19:17, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Appreciate the followup. I am interested in this topic, so I can take a crack at these sources. There has been a lot more critical eyes on this topic post-pandemic. Luiysia (talk) 18:24, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Good to hear, thank you! Crossroads -talk- 23:56, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- I'd also appreciate it. Everytime I keep trying to spend some time on the topic, something IRL makes me stop. I've made some edits over time but nowhere near where I want to be other than collecting sources and going "this would be nice to use". Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 11:59, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Crossroads Clovermoss I've updated with information from the review article and WaPo, and put out a hold on the book. Will add more information as I have time. Luiysia (talk) 19:41, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- I've added a number of sources and rewritten some sections to be in line with current research. Would appreciate any other saved sources if you have any Clovermoss Crossroads Luiysia (talk) 15:57, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Luiysia: You're still a relatively new editor but I think you meet the requirements for Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Library. I remember this source (which I used as ref 11) having more information that could be useful. The Wikipedia Library is pretty great for sources and you can use it to see that one in full. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you out with, I'm really appreciative of your initiative here. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 16:22, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

The Adulthood Section
I'm not a Wikipedia editor, so I'm not sure how to fix this, but I noticed what might be a problem/inconsistency in this article. The paragraph directly under the heading "Adulthood" starts by stating that HSLDA conducted a survey that showed positive long-term outcomes among adults who were homeschooled. The paragraph immediately lists multiple negative outcomes for homeschooled adults. Are these outcomes part of another survey? If so, that should be clarified better. As a reader, I found this paragraph confusing.
Anyway, I hope someone with more experience/knowledge will be able to clarify this paragraph. ~2026-15233-09 (talk) 20:46, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- There are more than one survey cited in that section, and the results of those surveys vary. But the whole section also smells very WP:SYNTHy to me, and needs a source-text integrity check as well as better attribution of views. -- LWG talk (VOPOV) 21:39, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification! ~2026-15233-09 (talk) 21:54, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
