Javid Nikpour (Template:Lang-fa; born 1976, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian sports and documentary photographer. His work focuses on major international sporting events and the social and cultural dimensions of sport. He has received multiple international photography awards and his work has been exhibited at international photography festivals.
Early life and education
Nikpour was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1976. He holds a First-Class Art Diploma in Photography awarded by the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, a qualification recognized as equivalent to a doctoral-level degree in the Iranian art education system.[1]
Career
Nikpour began his professional photography career in the early 2000s, working primarily in sports and documentary photography. He has covered major international sporting events, including multiple editions of the Olympic Games and Asian Games.
He served as the head of the Iranian photographers’ delegation at several Olympic Games, including Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020.[1]
In 2016, Nikpour founded Podium Photos, a collective focused on long-term documentary projects related to sport and society.[1]
