Abolitionism of Johns Hopkins (the person)
The Johns Hopkins article describes controversy as to whether or not Hopkins was actually a slaveowner. I think it is fair to say that it is at best inconclusive to say that he was with the most recent research suggesting that he was indeed an abolitionist, though belonging to the moderate wing of the abolitionist movement. https://osf.io/preprints/osf/zra5f . For that reason I've eliminated the sentence stating that he was a slaveowner. JeanHitaro (talk) 20:31, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
I could have instead mentioned the controversy and linked to a wider range of articles. But I felt that this would be too long given that the controversy is well discussed in the Johns Hopkins article. JeanHitaro (talk) 21:02, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- This edit was reverted because the study I found contradicting the evidence that Hopkins was a slaveholder is an unpublished preprint. Fair enough. But the original study referred to in the article is also unpublished. JeanHitaro (talk) 22:40, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
