US on 5 continents?
The section List of former transcontinental countries#Since 1700 lists the US as being on five continents. Two of these are dubious: South America and Africa. The link from the Africa assertion goes to Tristan da Cunha, an island in the middle of the Atlantic whose article says that the first 4 settlers were Americans but does not say that the island was ever claimed or held by the US. One link from the South America assertion goes to Panama, which is in North, not South, America, while the other link goes to a map of the Caribbean without mentioning any islands near South America.
I propose we cut these two, leaving North America, Asia (Philippines), and Oceania (Hawaii). Loraof (talk) 19:55, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
These US had a colony in Africa, Monrovia (modern day Liberia). Wandavianempire (talk) 01:34, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
