@Crosji: Hi, thank you for your recent edits. While I have been editing and willing to upgrade these articles, I wanted a helping hand as well. I need your opinions in establishing the SIGCOV of the subject. You can also see my related recents contributions on 11 articles of the PSL anthems in the aftermath of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ab Khel Ke Dikha.
You may note that I added tweets by notable journalists, considering WP:SPS and WP:UBO, as critical reception of these anthems. For "Mela Loot Liya" as well, I have collected some tweets, including .
While I appreciate your efforts here at Special:Diff/1356501076, I currently disagree with your few points.
- You removed a few things, like Sonu Dangrous (asst. choreographer), and the tweet by journalist Omair Alavi.
- You further re-added the Category:Pakistan Super League, despite it is clearly mentioned that Zafar has got no sponsorship and the anthem is for fans, so clearly not related to the PSL despite having a rival background only. Please also see Talk:List of Pakistan Super League anthems#Mela Loot Liya.
- You changed attribution from Zafar's statements to The News, making the subjective primary claim apparently an independent secondary report. I think WP:PSTS or WP:INTEXT applies.
- You removed entirely the section of audio and music video external media.
- Any specific reason for changing the citation templates formatting throughout? I think newspaper names should be kept italic, while TV channel names are not... and so on. Also, displaying website together with the publisher subject feels duplication, like "
brecorder.com. Business Recorder.
" which could only be "Business Recorder.
". I think MOS:TITLE and WP:CITEVAR apply. - Names in Pakistani English are not written as Lastname, Firstname; they are plainly written as Firstname Lastname. So that is why I use |author= parameter only, instead of |last=|first= parameters.
- As per MOS:LEAD, the lead paragraph if presents summary of the article body, then there is no need of an INLINE there. Further, you also added "four million views within two days". I think getting views on YouTube is not a notability point, until it is specifically compared with its rival video(s).
Waiting for your response, thank you again! M. Billoo 08:38, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- @M.Billoo2000, thank you for the detailed feedback, I appreciate it. Several of your points are well taken. The Sonu Dangrous credit should come back if it is sourced. The external media section was a mistake to remove; it is entirely standard for music articles and I should not have touched it...
- On attribution, you are right, if those figures come from Zafar's own statements, they belong to him, not to The News. WP:INTEXT is clear on this. On the PSL category, I removed it. On citation formatting, fair enough, WP:CITEVAR means the existing style should have been left alone, and the |author= approach for Pakistani names makes obvious sense given how those names actually work.
- On the tweets, though, I want to be direct: I do not think they belong in the article, and I would say that regardless of WP:UBO or WP:SPS. Tweets are unedited, throwaway, and gone the next day. If a critic's opinion of this song is worth preserving in an encyclopaedia, it should exist somewhere more substantial than a social media post. The real question is whether any of those seven journalists actually reviewed the song in print or in a published outlet. If they did, that is what should be cited. If none of them did, that tells you something useful about the level of documented critical reception, and that matters directly for the 'significant coverage' question you are trying to answer. - I understand, your point about tweets is fair enough. But I may disagree for now. As mentioned above, you can also see the 11 PSL anthem articles, for some of which the AfD was withdrawn after the reception was expanded, especially, highlighting the wider notability of "Ab Khel Jamay Ga" using Twitter voting polls. More recently, "Khelenge Beat Pe", which was featured at the DYK as well with the presence of similar tweets. It means, therefore, they are acceptable. And so, I was willing to expand this page as well.
- I have had a lot of conversations about the reliability of social media references. Some of them you can see at User talk:M.Billoo2000#YouTube refs? and Talk:2025 in Pakistan#April 2025 hailstorm?. The main point is, it should need that status of reputation. That is what UBO says. For example, take Omair Alavi. If he can be a journalist for many publications like VOA Urdu, BBC Urdu, The News, etc., then he is similar reputable at his own social media as well.
- Secondly, let's talk about WP:SYNTH and WP:TSI as well. While I appreciate your copyediting efforts if there were spelling or grammar errors, or if the sentences can be rephrased for better clarity, I again disagree with some of your points. For example, the previous revision said,
The News noted that Zafar "strategically" made "no reference to PSL or cricket"
. The current revision neutralized the opinion asThe News International observed that Zafar made no reference to the PSL or cricket in the song
. Another example is this. How will both the opinions be justified? - Now, when you ask,
The real question is whether any of those seven journalists actually reviewed the song in print or in a published outlet. If they did, that is what should be cited.
I can give a number of YouTube references of reputable Pakistani news channels, where obviously similar journalists like Waseem Badami, Shahzad Iqbal, etc., have reviewed the song.
- Hope it helps, thank you! M. Billoo 13:23, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
@Crosji: I have tried asking twice that you please discuss this matter. I am going to go ahead and make the change I have described. If you revert without responding here, then I am going to have to file a complaint against you at the WP:ANI for WP:DE. Thank you! M. Billoo 18:16, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- @M.Billoo2000 Hello, feel free to proceed, I have no plans to continue working on this article, so it is all yours. I am confident you will handle it well. Happy editing! Crosji (talk) 04:25, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
