Ties with Sea Shepherd
"Captain Paul Watson is no longer legally allowed to be seen or photographed with the Sea Shepherd name or logo and has completely dropped all ties to the brand." This information is without source and clearly wrong as Paul Watson wears Sea Shepherd Merch on the homepage of Sea Shepherd France. According to Sea Shepherd France they have all rights to use the logo which means also Watson can use their logo. Also according to a french source he is still the head of the board of Sea Shepherd France and Brazil. I edited this in the German Wikipedia but don't want to butcher this articel since English is not my native language. I hope someone else will do it. The Church of Biocentrism
In 2021, Watson co-founded the Church of Biocentrism with Omar Todd. A registered 501(c)(3), the organization promotes a non-anthropocentric worldview based on the laws of ecology. The church became a point of contention during Watson's 2022 split from Sea Shepherd; Sea Shepherd Australia issued a statement accusing Watson of using the religious organization to redirect donor support away from the established foundation. Watson has defended the church as a necessary evolution of the environmental movement.
Given the church’s role in the highly public "civil war" between Watson and the Sea Shepherd organizations, it is a relevant biographical detail. However, the claims of "diverting donations" would need to be carefully attributed to the Sea Shepherd board's statements to comply with Wikipedia’s Neutral Point of View policy.
