Construction Date
How could the highway have been built in 1969 as stated when there were bridges for it built in the 1950s (as stated) and the final segments weren't completed until the 1990s? --68.179.16.113 19:38, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Unsourced Material / Original Research
GMoney0805 did an edit on this page today (Nov. 23, 2019) for the Exit List section. I read the page and found that thee section Inner city beltway, the second half of the Perimeter plan was tagged in 2010 as not citing sources.
The second issue with this block of text (as of Nov. 23, 2019) is that it appears to be "original research", judging by the way it was written. For example:
Several years ago a group working with a councillor, worked to stop the loop from going into the Transcona area, and had the roadway's land designated a natural prairie grass park.
The third issue with this section is that it is about the "Suburban Beltway" not the Perimeter Hwy., the subject of this article. I suggest moving some of this text to the article about Winnipeg's Inner Ring Road and citing any and all relevant (NPOV) text.
The fourth issue is the title of the section itself. Calling it the "Inner city Beltway" is not accurate as that was another proposed ring road entirely and called "The Downtown ByPass" as proposed by the Wilbur Smith report of 1957. So in effect, back in the 1950s there have been 3 ring roads proposed or constructed since then:
- Perimeter Hwy.
- Suburban Beltway / Inner Perimeter / Inner Ring Road
- Downtown ByPass

Jimj wpg was my exit list edit ok? I simply removed I-29 as a destination from the Pembina Highway exit, just because it is not listed on the sign along the Perimeter.

My vote would be to remove the Inner Beltway section altogether. It's been ten years and no one has bothered to add any citations, so I would say it is fair game for removal. If someone can find sufficient supporting sources to support, the Inner Beltway would probably work better in a separate article.Rkehler3 (talk) 04:51, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose, The Perimeter in Atlanta is not typically known as "Perimeter Highway". The Perimeter already redirects to the primary topic. If consensus finds that disambiguation is needed, I'll note that Perimeter Highway (Winnipeg) would be a more accurate title. 162 etc. (talk) 20:53, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose per WP:SMALLDETAILS. The road in Atlanta is called "The Perimeter", not "Perimeter Highway". There is no ambiguity in the actual titles and no need for Wikipedia to insert ambiguity that does not exist. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 16:39, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
Suggested addition
One thing that is pretty well unique about Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway is, despite it having been developed over the last 70 years, except for a very small amount of development to the west, it continues to encircle all significant development of Winnipeg as of 2026. Compare this to other existing ring roads in Canada - Anthony Henday Drive (Edmonton), Stoney/Tsuut'ina Trail (Calgary), Circle Drive (Saskatoon - which is now planning a new ring road as an effective replacement) and Regina's original Ring Road, and others, and they almost all have significant urban development beyond them (the new Regina Bypass is an exception, but it's only a few years old). But Perimeter Highway was built far enough out that in 70 years Winnipeg itself has yet to grow beyond the ring road in any significant way. ~2026-46138-87 (talk) 23:53, 23 August 2026 (UTC)
