Talk:Internment of Chinese Indians

Undiscussed move

In 2016, Lemongirl942 unilaterally moved the article to Internment of Chinese Indians, to match the article Internment of Japanese Americans, which she claims to be a similar article . However, the two situations are not similar at all, as the deportation is at least as important as internment in the persecution of Chinese Indians, whereas virtually no Japanese American citizens were deported. I was not around at the time and did not notice the change. I've now restored the original title, as the new title does not match the article scope. -Zanhe (talk) 18:04, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

Persecution of Chinese IndiansInternment of Chinese-IndiansInternment of Chinese-Indians – Just addition of deportation doesn't change the objective of the detention. This was detention similar to the WW II Methu1 (talk) 20:28, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

  • I agree that the internment of Chinese in India is indeed similar to the internment of Japanese in the United States. Perhaps the deportation of Chinese could be a subsection of the internment article?Kamtal75 (talk) 22:02, 9 April 2020 (UTC)Kamtal75
  • Comment the title should probably be WP:CONSISTENT with the main article Chinese people in India. See e.g. for further discussion of terminology issues. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 04:15, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
  • Support Internment of Chinese-Indians is the correct title . Please see and . Bit silly that we are getting into debates for trivia. Might help if we curate more and make Wiki an interesting place for modern users while following WP:NPOV at the same time #imho. Devopam (talk) 03:57, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Internment of Chinese-IndiansInternment of Chinese Indians – Move back to original non-hyphenated title (before Revision as of 17:58, 19 June 2018, Revision as of 22:08, 16 April 2020). All cited sources, including Indian ones, use the non-hyphenated form. • Support per MOS:DASH. Hyphens are used in compound modifiers, and nothing is being modified here by the phrase "Chinese-Indians". You would hyphenate the modifier in "Chinese-Indian people" or "Chinese-Indian internment", but not "Chinese Indians" (where only "Chinese" is the modifier). --Ahecht (TALK
