Persimmons grow wild in south central Indiana, US where a fondness has grown around them. The specialty is for Persimmon Pudding.

Mitchell, Indiana has an annual Persimmon festival (every September) that features a Persimmon Pudding contest. Persimmon Pudding is a baked pudding that has the consistency of pumpkin pie but resembles a brownie and is almost always served with a topping of whipped cream.

A citation of some kind would be nice on the whole "Fruit of Gods"/ Odyssey reference... i'm not sure but it sounds like this is describing the mythical drug "Soma" which according to my research is widely believed to be the red toadstool amanita Muscaria. I'm not a registered wikipedia member, nor do i know the procedures and policy, but I thought someone shouuld call attention to this.

In philosophy, the painting of persimmons by Mu Qi (13th Century) exemplifies the progression from youth to age as a symbol of the progression from bitterness to sweetness. The persimmon when young is better and inedible, but as it ages it becomes sweet and beneficial to humankind. Thus, as we age, we overcome rigidity and prejudice and attain compassion and sweetness. Mu Qi's painting of six persimmons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Persimmons) is considered a masterpiece.

Should "better" be replaced with "bitter?" or does "better" refer to its appearance?

Across Wikipedia, data for annual production of fruits, vegetables, grains, etc. are presented simply in tonnes using the most recent data from the United Nations Statistics Division, FAOSTAT where a user can select from pick lists to choose "Regions (world total and list) - Elements (production quantity) - Items (persimmons) - Years (2023) to yield data presentable simply in a table and discussed in the section.

The long-held presentation of persimmon production for this article is represented in Special:Diff/1320587744, where the production table is constructed by countries in order of total in tonnes and the amount. Should crop yield data be of interest, the expression given by FAOSTAT is kg per hectare, as done in Special:Diff/1320499665.

Two new IP users (likely the same location), ~2025-31441-35 and ~2025-31288-49, have been adding uncommon production data, producing a different order by countries, in units of kg per square km (with no WP:RS), as in Special:Diff/1320585933, where the user appears to be calculating the results by WP:OR, rather than deriving them from a source. This is an odd way of expressing production, and does not derive from a reliable source, such as FAOSTAT. The table data have been changed by the IP user(s) four times within 24 hours, WP:3RR.
