Hello! I can see you reversed my contribution about the era of Pillgwenlly Library on Commercial Street to the article, I would expect an article about a library to be about its service as a whole and the history of it to its community and not just the structural building it once stood in (comparable perhaps to the difference in wikidata definitions of 'public library' and 'library building'), albeit its probably longest and most well known location. It is a matter of useful encyclopedic information as seems absolutely bonkers to me that since 2024 there is no library serving the area (anyone would have to use the central city library) and this info is hidden in news articles from 2 years ago now. Let me know what you think. Re it being a community centre now, here it is at the same address https://www.dewis.wales/ResourceDirectory/ViewResource.aspx?id=25009 Rhagfyr (talk) 22:18, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- Rhagfyr - First, I've moved your comment here, as it's easier if discussions about a specific article take place on that article's Talkpage. As to the removal of your text, I wrote this article intending that it be about the Temple Street building, and didn't think that the addition of text, and an image, relating to a later iteration on Commercial Road was really relevant to this. I did also find the text a bit POV. Whether or not we think it is "bonkers" for Newport Council to have closed all library facilities in Pillgwenlly isn't important on Wikipedia. What matters is what reliable sources say about the issue and whether that is relevant to the article. You could, of course, start an article on the Commercial Road premises, or indeed an article on Libraries facilities in Pillgwenny more generally. Alternatively, you could add a section on Libraries to the Pillgwenlly article.
- But we can also see what other editors think about the inclusion of your material here. If there's a consensus to do so, I won't oppose it. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 07:10, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
- Fair comment on the POV tone, any adjustment welcome, for others input, the original suggested text was:
- "The library closed at these premises in 2009 (it is currently used as a community centre), moving to a smaller site on Commercial Road, until it's closure by Newport Council on 28 August 2024, there is currently no library serving Pillgwenlly, with users having to travel to Newport Central Library for services."
- Something like this would be useful but would be interested in others views. I dont think there's much point in a separate article on the Commercial Street era as it would not be notable of itself. Rhagfyr (talk) 13:19, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
