With regards to what caused the lead pipes to not leach. Calcium did not protect the lead pipes from leaching, it was the carbonate(s). Calcium is often associated with carbonate(s) due to calcium carbonate geology, but calcium is not what forms the precipitate, nor is it calcium carbonate. The solubility constant of calcium carbonate is about 3 orders of magnitude higher than lead carbonate(s). Thus, under equilibrium chemistry, lead carbonate(s) will form the precipitate, i.e., the protective scale layer. Water Researcher7 (talk) 17:53, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

You are right (bottom of this source), but since the cited source says calcium so we would need another source connecting Roman pipes and lead carbonates. – Thjarkur (talk) 18:33, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

The page requires a citation added and I would like to suggest one of these links to help readers with resources: https://www.myjobquote.co.uk/plumber https://www.myjobquote.co.uk/blog/choosing-a-new-boiler/

For the link placement, I suggest in the 'Equipment and tools' section, in the second paragraph: There are many tools a plumber needs to do a good plumbing job.

Could you add the link to the word 'plumbing'?

Open to suggestions.

Thanks for any assistance. 2A02:C7F:AEAC:5A00:D828:BD5:6AD1:E48E (talk) 12:55, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

It's not really a reliable source, it's a company blog used to attract readers to sign up for their product. We should be able to find this information in published, reliable sources. – Thjarkur (talk) 13:05, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Video

It had been raining in the previous 1 to 2 hours before this video was taken.

Is something unusual happening with the water in the bowel of this outdoor toilet?

Reference 28 is broken. I've provided a new page.

The page is linking to a broken link. The reference 28 is broken. https://butlerplumbinginc.com/the-effects-of-sunlight-exposure-on-pvc-pipe-and-conduit/ Jest3rhead244 (talk) 05:42, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Not done: The archived link still works. Ultraodan (talk) 06:15, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Confusing usage of the word "fixtures" instead of "fittings".

In the opening paragraph of this article the following is said:

"Plumbing is any system that conveys fluids for a wide range of applications. Plumbing uses pipes, valves, plumbing fixtures, tanks, and other apparatuses to convey fluids."

This text uses the term "plumbing fixtures", while linking to a "Piping and plumbing fitting" article. Confusingly, the term "plumbing fixtures" is used , while this is a term generally used as a collective term for toilets, sinks, baths, etc. My claim for this is supported by the following (similarly named) article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plumbing_fixture

I would therefor like to request to change the "plumbing fixtures" to either "plumbing fittings" or a more general "fittings". ~2026-11130-6 (talk) 10:42, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
