QuickTime 6.5.2 security

The most recent QuickTime version for Windows 98(SE) seems to be the old 6.5.2.

Since for QuickTime 7 many security updates were released, the question rises how save QuickTime 6.5.2 is. Should one, maybe, refrain from using QuickTime on a Windows 98(SE) computer altogether?

Computer History Museum interview

The Computer History Museum did an interview about "The Origins of QuickTime", with some of its creators. Useful as both a primary source and a starting point for finding related sources. DFlhb (talk) 22:25, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

Discontinued?

I use a modern, up to date macOS and I do not believe that Quicktime is outdated. Unless, if Quicktime and Quicktime Player are two different subjects. Although on Apple's official website there are no modern versions of Quicktime available for download, only versions for older machines. I think this article is confusing and misunderstanding.

complexity of article

This article is far, far over my head, and I'm a fairly competent (at best) and longtime user of the internet, video editing, etc. The article, I think, needs to start out at the level of the educated user who lacks even basic info about this specific topic. To make this slightly clearer, you wouldn't start an article on Baseball by analyzing the differences between the perfect games thrown by Yankee and Dodger pitchers in the last fifty years. You'd start with a description of the field, the objectives of the game, and so on. Please do that for this important article on QuickTime. Thanks. Conlawteacher (talk) 19:22, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
