Awkward phrasing

“Longest-living” reads oddly in the biographical lead. Fairly certain that Wikipedia convention favors “oldest surviving member"? Tigers1984 (talk) 17:02, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

Technically the statement is inaccurate, depending on how you define "member". Jimmie Nicol was a temporary member, is still alive, and is older than Ringo. I suggest simply stating that he was the oldest member of the classic lineup that included Ringo, McCartney, Lennon, and Harrison. That gets rid of the awkward phrasing as well as any possible inaccuracy, and it avoids having to rewrite if McCartney outlives Ringo. Alternatively, we could simply delete the sentence. It's not mentioned later in the article (and the lead should summarize the article). Sundayclose (talk) 17:24, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
Oh man, these are very good points Tigers1984 (talk) 18:28, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
Done I've made an edit to remove the line, given this seems to have been consensous here and I agree. Of course, feel free to undo if this is mistake on my behalf. ToTheStone (talk) 22:55, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

RE: Category:Actors awarded knighthoods

Category should be Musicians awarded knighthoods in Starr's case, IMHO. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 22:00, 9 October 2025 (UTC)

Under the section "replacing Pete Best" the reference to the date Ringo accepted the Beatles invitation to join is incorrect.

Change: On 14 August, Starr accepted Lennon's invitation to join the Beatles

TO: On 15 August, Starr accepted Lennon's invitation to join the Beatles

Ringo himself has been unambiguously clear on this point, that it was Wednesday August 15 when he received the invitation and accepted.

Name

Ringo Starr's full was Richard Henry Parkin Starkey, Jr., even though it's not listed on Wikipedia. Ringo's father was also called Richard, so that's why Ringo received Jr. on his last name. Neoogai (talk) 16:42, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

Are you suggesting a change to the article? If so, you need to provide a reliable source that verfies the change. I googled the name "Richard Henry Parkin Starkey, Jr." and got nothing except unreliable sources such as Reddit and personal websites. Considering his fame, it's not very persuasive that the name cannot be confirmed. Sundayclose (talk) 21:09, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
It could be gleave too possibly, but I have some evidence that it might be that https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/143201927/richard_henry_parkin-starkey considering his fathers name was Richard too, he could be a jr, and also, his mothers maiden name was gleave, and also, on find a grave it says “ Father of former Beatle, Richard "Ringo Starr" Starkey, Jr.” that verifies the jr claim. His father’s middle name was Henry Parkin, so that might be it. https://groups.google.com/g/rec.music.beatles/c/yXZ_Ef0beLA?pli=1 “ Now Ringo Starr's full was Richard Henry Parkin Starkey, Jr., even though it's not listed on Wikipedia. Ringo's father was also called Richard, so that's why Ringo received Jr. on his last name.”- capitaoap, Google Groups. Neoogai (talk) 22:31, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Not done Findagrave and discussions by users in Google groups are not a reliable sources. Anyone can edit them. See WP:UGC and especially see WP:RS before citing other sources. I could post a message in a Google group claiming that his name was John Doe, but that doesn't make it true. Not to mention that the Findagrave site doesn't have anything about Ringo's full name. Use of Starr's birth name in The Postman

Should we mention that Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr's birth name) is given as the false name of the U.S. president in the 1997 film The Postman? ~2025-32865-45 (talk) 19:59, 28 November 2025 (UTC)

No. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Sundayclose (talk) 00:04, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
