Indonesian

The categories below lists him as of indonesian descent, but there is nothing in the article. He certainly looks at least partly so. Psephguru (talk) 20:38, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

i think articles have been edited. Its very strange. ~2026-12318-25 (talk) 02:14, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

"first openly gay" in lead

@~2026-12065-37, Justthefacts, and Dajasj: That Jetten is the "first openly gay prime minister" of the Netherlands is quite notable and belongs in the lead. Adakiko (talk) 21:25, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

@Adakiko: Agree, and moreover, it is the single most widely reported fact about Rob Jetten in the media and the press, so it absolutely belongs in the lead. --Justthefacts (talk) 21:35, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
IvyBluu (talk · contribs) Discuss the issue here. See wp:BRD. Please note that your editing history being similar to ~2026-12065-37 (talk · contribs) suggests possible sockpuppetry. Thank you Adakiko (talk) 21:43, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

Sexual orientation is profoundly uninteresting. Might as well talk about his brown skin as well. It is equally relevant to his ability to execute his office.  Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-12471-89 (talk) 00:11, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

Your person opinion is irrelevant. We go by reliable sources on Wikipedia. --Justthefacts (talk) 18:41, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
is he brown though? what is going on lol, its like the dutch are ashamed of it huh ~2026-12909-90 (talk) 11:53, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Is Rob Jetten partially Indonesian or not?

Very strange situation. I remember several articles from reliable sources in late 2025 acknowledging this, but it seems to be edited/deleted now? Very strange. ~2026-12181-34 (talk) 01:33, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

It seems like there is an effort to hide this? Not that it isn't true but it seems unlikely someone of wholly Dutch or Northwestern European descent would look like he does, not solely referring to pigmentation but also facial structure. Ruud Lubbers was swarthy but didnt look Asian at all. Very strange... ~2026-12181-34 (talk) 01:36, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
From experience from my family who is primarily German descent, he maybe be a more swarthy Dutchman.I know my grandmother was a swarthy German woman. Most people think she is of Indian descent when they see a picture of her but she's actually 100% Northern European. HistoryBuffForever2002 (talk) 02:44, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
He has no connection to Indonesia; he simply has Indonesian ancestry, which is very common among Dutch people. ~2026-12407-17 (talk) 08:43, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
where does it state he has Indonesian ancestry? Remember in October 2025 a BBC article, but can't find... ~2026-12815-51 (talk) 19:26, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

Redundancy

"He is the first openly gay and first openly LGBT person to serve as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands".

This sentence contains redundancies. If he is the first person of the entire LGBT spectrum to be the prime minister, of course he is the first of his particular letter of LGBT. Unknown Temptation (talk) 15:13, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

True, although which one would you leave out? It would be weird to only mention LGBT, as a quick reader might not know which of the letters he belongs to Dajasj (talk) 15:16, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
As reliable sources mention both facts, it is proper and pertinent for Wikipedia to do so too, especially as both facts are informative and relevant for readers. --Justthefacts (talk) 19:57, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
It's the lead, we can't include everything from reliable sources in the lede, especially as his career is essentially just starting and we will get more content that should be included in the lede Dajasj (talk) 20:36, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Article proving Indo ancestry

why are the dutch so insecure about rob jetten's indonesian heritage, that they are scrubbing it and denying it? pathetic! ~2026-12909-90 (talk) 12:11, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
Honestly, the article says nothing and doesnt appear to be super reliable Dajasj (talk) 12:17, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
in the days before and after the 2025 dutch election, MANY articles from reliable sources contained a blurb about him being partially Indonesian, but they have all been SCRUBBED. I think the dutch are mixed in that, being very english-speaking and on the Western fringe on mainland Europe, are affected by the same idpol in the US and UK, but are also deeply ashamed of their large part Indonesian population and attempt to hide it. This is a clear example. I'm sorry, but it is very likely that this guy is mixed race. If it is not important, why are the Dutch scrubbing it and denying it? thats what bothers me as a POC. I dont know why Northwestern Europeans and Eastern Europeans are ALWAYS given a pass. Jim23532gdfggr (talk) 12:29, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
I follow Dutch politics closely, and haven't seen it mentioned tbh Dajasj (talk) 14:02, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
third paragraph. Jim23532gdfggr (talk) 12:30, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
Yeah but is very vague Dajasj (talk) 14:03, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
