- How is he an American actor? He was born and raised in Vancouver. He is Canadian. ~2026-16541-82 (talk) 03:50, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
MOS:SURNAME
Hi @750h+, I noticed you had restored Reynolds's full name in the "early life" section. I mean, doesn't MOS:SURNAME apply to this article? I know we would have to include citations in the lead if we don't mention his middle name in "early life". However, I don't consider it a violation of MOS:LEADCITE. Thedarkknightli (talk) 18:15, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- It states, After the initial mention, a person should generally be referred to by surname only. The lead is supposed to summarise the article per MOS:LEAD, so therefore, the “early life” mention would be the initial mention, and the lead should not count at all. Additionally most featured articles on actors, like Scarlett Johansson, Josh Hutcherson and Emma Stone use the same format. 750h+ 00:08, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- No, the initial mention is in the lead sentence. You also said "most FA use the same format" then gave a few examples?!?. I am sure we could find MANY FAs that do NOT repeat the full name after the lead sentence. --Malerooster (talk) 01:33, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Thedarkknightli and Malerooster: no current consensus on this on Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biography so I am restoring it to its previous condition until a consensus on that page is formed. notwally on that page has also brought up some excellent points on why the early life should count as the initial mention, as have many other users. 750h+ 10:45, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
- Well, I actually believe we have reached a rough consensus on this issue. Thedarkknightli (talk) 06:33, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

MOS:GEOLINK
Hi, does MOS:GEOLINK apply to "Vancouver
" when we've already linked "Kitsilano
" in the same paragraph? Pinging @750h+, who thinks we can link both. Thedarkknightli (talk) 14:08, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
Short description wording
Hi @JDDJS, I personally don't think we have to shoehorn a third job into a short description. I mean, I know WP:SDSHORT is neither a policy nor a guideline, but it nevertheless makes some sense to me. I changed it from "Canadian-American actor and businessman
" to "Canadian-American actor and producer
" in this edit cuz he first gained notability as a film producer before founding his first company. Thedarkknightli (talk) 18:13, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- We had a discussion about including businessman in the lead in the past, and there was consensus that he's notable enough for business to include in the lead. In general, the lead should closely match the short description. JDDJS (talk to me • see what I've done) 18:25, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @HKLionel, I agree
he is more notable as an actor
but really don't see a compelling reason against including "entrepreneur" in the short description. The previous comments in this discussion shows a rough consensus to include the job in short description, and like I said, WP:SD40, which you cited in this edit summary, is neither a policy nor a guideline. Thedarkknightli (talk) 10:25, 29 December 2025 (UTC)- Yes, but it remains something to aim towards. Whether or not this reason is compelling is up to you, but short description is a tool for the reader, and making it too convoluted or adding information that isn't of equal importance, in my opinion, goes against the purposes of short descriptions. A general rule of thumb I've observed is that short descriptions align closely with the lead; in this case, Reynolds' entrepreneurship is merely a single sentence in the last paragraph. But you're still right: there is no compelling reason to not include the term, so feel free to restore it, it's not a major issue. Have a great day, it's lio! | talk | work 13:15, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @HKLionel, I agree
Wrexham
Ryan Reynolds has not "made" money from his Wrexham investment, but rather seen it increase in value from the initial £2 million investment to a valuation of over £150 million, with the club also recouping its funding through recent equity stakes and strategic partnerships, resulting in a potentially profitable outcome for the owners. Infobox image?
I think the current image is ugly, so I suggest changing it to an image from 2019, like this one: file:Deadpool 2 Japan Premiere Red Carpet Ryan Reynolds (cropped).jpg. It looks much better. Lililolol (talk) 20:43, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
