Talk:Sean Cairncross

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For whatever reason, it seems a nominee for CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation on the day before his confirmation vote should have a better biography. One assumes something was removed from this page, given that the sources say a lot more than is included on the page. I will try to fix this.  Preceding unsigned comment added by CarlCanton (talkcontribs) 01:13, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

Looking at the article history, it looks like this article has always basically been a stub. I don't see any major content removals. In any event, your planned expansion of the article is welcome! Marquardtika (talk) 02:30, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

@Therequiembellishere: Not looking to start an argument here. I interpreted what you said about looking for references as starting from a place of knowledge and finding references to support that fact, rather than the other way around. If that wasn't what you meant, sorry. I exclusively try to find as many references as I can from reliable sources. I deleted what I couldn't reliably cite because that is the expectation on a biography of a living person and because this is a good article nominee. I did try to support his full name, his date of birth, and his location of birth. I deleted that information because I am trying to move away from using birth records. I did find a proper citation for his middle name, which I'll include shortly.

On the party parameter: Yes, Cairncross is a Republican, but the article doesn't explicitly state that. WP:WIARM is an essay, not a policy or a guideline, about how to interpret IAR. It is a narrow viewpoint because Wikipedia has to take material on biographies of living people seriously. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 04:38, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
