Stub

Hi, thank you for this editing.
Generally, a stub is under 10 sentences or 250 words, isn't it? Dgw|Talk 20:18, 5 December 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for this message; the article is perhaps short enough to be a stub.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 10:45, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
Thank you. I will wait 72 hours to allow other editors to comment. After that period, I will return the template if no objections are raised.
On 3 December 2025, I asked Raanan to upload a freely licensed image of herself to Commons. Dgw|Talk 14:20, 6 December 2025 (UTC)

Lead

I sincerely don't understand the issue with my proposed phrasing. It summarizes the key elements of the article, minimizes nothing and better complies with MOS:LEAD. Totalstgamer (talk) 18:06, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

The current lead is:
Shvut Raanan (Hebrew: שבות רענן; born 1993) is an Israeli lawyer and social activist. She represents wives of Israel Defense Forces reservists, particularly following the 7 October 2023 attack.[5] Raanan, who resides in northern Israel, has advocated through media appearances, protests, and forums for equitable reserve duty burdens, economic support for reservists' families, and policy reforms on military service equality.[6][7][8] Raanan is a political candidate for the Knesset in the 2026 election.
It summarizes Raanan's activity well. She did not seek election to the Knesset (she did not go from door to door, as the Hebrew phrasing might suggest), as the incorrect lead stated, but instead established the body of reservist women and reached out to the media. Later, Hendel established the Reservists party (as mentioned in the Biography section; there is no need to repeat every detail), and Raanan joined. Dgw|Talk 19:57, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
1. Seek election is a neutral term. It is also fair to write that she is "a candidate", if you think that is more precise framing. This is in any case a minor issue
2. Repeating the fact of her candidacy is not 'repeating everything'. Her affiliation with the Reservists is a substantial reason as to why she's notable enough to have a wikipedia article.
3. You did not acknowledge the MOS issue of the lead including details not present in the rest of the article, to the point that it and the article body are of similar size
4. Her place of residence and positions are written about quite extensively in the lead. I think this phrasing should be moved to the article body and replaced with the following:
Shvut Raanan (Hebrew: שבות רענן; born 30 March 1993) is an Israeli lawyer, politician and social activist. Raanan represents wives of Israel Defense Forces reservists, particularly following the 7 October 2023 attack, and advocates for equal military service, equitable reserve duty burdens and economic support for reservists' families.[6][7][8] Ra'anan is a candidate for the Knesset in the 2026 election on behalf of the The Reservists.
Totalstgamer (talk) 20:06, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
The article is about Raanan, not about me. Using phrases like "You did not acknowledge the MOS issue of the lead" might not be consistent with Assume good faith.
I propose adding the suggested phrase: "and advocates for equal military service" after "particularly following the 7 October 2023 attack". If there are no objections, I will make this change after 72 hours from now.
The phrase "the Reservists Party" is already covered in the biography section, so it does not need to be repeated here.
Everyone is welcome to expand the Biography section. and to repeat material that also appears in the lead. There is no need to replace the lead. Dgw|Talk 21:08, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
This is not about good faith, i simply asked you to acknowlege the issue. Thank you for doing so. I did in fact expand the biography section, with materials from the lead, so that the two are proportional and the lead does not include information not mentioned in the article's body. I would not mind revisiting this at a later date, but as it stands it would be more accurate for the lead to be extremely short than for it to be extremely long at the expense of the article's body.
As for repitition, there is nothing wrong with repeating information that appears in the article's body verbatim in the lead. If the issue is that the body does not include any new information, that is a separate issue that should be addressed at a later date. Totalstgamer (talk) 21:33, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
I undid changes. The issue is discussed here. It is needed to wait until reaching a consensus. The removal was not accepted, because it was the activity of Raanan. It is not "news" but her attitude toward exemption from military service in Israel. Raanan's graduation details are told on her timeline which appears in the external links. Raanan is not a politician, because she has not been elected yet. Dgw|Talk 22:24, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
I would appreciate if you avoided blanket reverts in the future as you also reverted content additions i made in my previous edit. Though you do not need to be elected to a public office to be a politician (see the definition of Politician), I don't care enough to contest this further. I will insert an inline citation to the information (which isn't strictly necessary but is probably good practice to make statements easy to back up).
As for the content I removed, I do not understand the relevancy of a statement as broad and generic as "reservists are the manpower of the state", especially when presented as the specific statement being relevant rather than as an opinion in an opinions section. I maintain that it should be removed
I will be re-inserting the information you removed and adding an inline citation as mentioned above. I believe these edits should be uncontroversial. Totalstgamer (talk) 16:28, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
