There should be something about his death190.55.34.57 (talk) 21:04, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Also, Terry is noted for having played his harmonicas "backwards"; i.e., with the higher register and the "10" hole toward the left. I don't know any reference for this offhand, but it's easily visible in any recorded videos of him playing harp. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.154.178.255 (talk) 03:49, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Cause of death

So, given the recent reverts and changes on how Terry died by multiple editors (including those by Nashville-based IPs), I'm opening a discussion here for others to give their say, rather than get involved in edit warring.

For now, I've reinstated his death in the career section but left out the cause of death for now as it has no other sources as per the verifiability policy. Secondary sources may be useful in describing the primary cause of death to prevent any original research on our part. Any ideas on this? @Sjones23: I found an article in The Tennessean that claims McMillan was hospitalized with pneumonia but does not cite that as the cause of death. Obits in the Knoxville News Sentinel and The Independent do not list a cause of death, and the CMT article states that the family withheld the cause of death entirely. Sometimes causes of death aren't publicly stated, and this seems to be one of those times. I don't see any suspicious circumstances here that would require a family member to step in 18 years later. Without any reliable source giving a definitive cause of death, then we are left with nothing to report. Does @Tmtruth: (someone with a declared 'connection' to the article's subject matter) have anything to report perhaps ? - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 13:15, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
YES!! We are Terrys family. There is a lot of unanswered questions, and ongoing investigations even after all this time as well as a whole lot of incorrect information regarding his cause of death that has been posted on web pages. We would prefer at this time, that it just not be included. As far as his location at time of death and where he is buried is also incorrect, but he was in East Tennessee. I hope this helps!! 2600:1702:12E0:BA80:C51F:5363:1814:9C88 (talk) 14:21, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
Reasonable concerns. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 15:14, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
Keep in mind that nothing about his death can be added without a secondary source -- i.e., someone independent of the family. This is so that other readers and editors can know and verify the most accurate biographical information. If the existing sources have specifics wrong, then anything other than the date of death could probably be removed without issue.
