I have noticed a mistake, therianthropy is not the act of shapeshifting into an animal. Therianthropy is actually involuntarily identifying as an animal(s) that either have or had existed in this world. That is just a simple explanation as therianthropy is a very complicated thing, but there is a therian wiki, too, so I do not see the need to give an extremely complex explanation. 142.162.204.225 (talk) 10:26, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

Therian may refer to:

• In taxonomy, a member of the mammalian subclass Theria, consisting of marsupial and placental mammals
• Therianthropy, the mythological ability or affliction of individuals to metamorphose into animals or hybrids by means of shapeshifting
• A member of the contemporary subculture of therianthropy, a subcommunity of otherkin, which is based on a psychological identification with animals

There are many different types of therians, Therian is just a collective noun for members of Therianthropy community.

Therians can relate (refer) to many different animals that they may like to portray, animals like Foxes, Snow leopards, or any other Theria are popular amongst the Therian community.

As a therian myself, it is not "shapeshifting into an animal" it is an identity and a firm belief that you were supposed to be something other than human. Most often, therians identify with felines and canines, but a therian can be any animal at all. I shall soon be requesting an edit, because most of this page is simply wrong and the page should be made by someone who actually identifies with it. A therian is someone who identifies as a specific animal. Therians are aware that they are physically human, however they do feel like an animal spirituality and believe that they think as one. I am a dire wolf and fire dragon therian/otherkin (for fire dragon) i recommend watching therian territory's videos for better info but cut to the chase (THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART) therians can not become their therotype.Tho ppl with clinical lycanthropy belive they can trasform/have trasformed/curretly trasformed into a anaiml.therians are part of the alterhuman committee. (not sujre if i spelled it right) what in the world does theria have to do with therians like only thing is that therians are humans which i think it means they are theria i dont understand the thing for it and also a therians therotype can be a animal that is a theria or any of the clades classified as part of therias. Watch out. The meaning of this word is shifting. The technical definition is not known or falling out of favour. It's a viral trend in Latin America right now, let's hope it falls out of favour before it goes global, but it seems highly unlikely.
