GA Reviewing guide

Hello, Thebiguglyalien! Just to let you know, I placed a link to your nice page Wikipedia:Good article reviewing guide at the bottom of the new GA page Wikipedia:Good article initiatives (that is linked to from the "Reviewing initiatives" tab of the GA tab header). Thanks, from the reviewing community! Prhartcom (talk) 17:18, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

Yo. I just copy-edited the page again. It's pretty good. I linked to it from the main WP:GANI page. Prhartcom (talk) 23:21, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Watch the page views.
Also check out the page of the editor I linked at the bottom of yours; it's pretty good too. Cheers. Prhartcom (talk) 02:16, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Mostafa Ahmed Nour (14:11, 19 February 2026)

Hello, my grandpa is the former Chamberlain of the presidency of Egypt during both the presidency of Sadat and Mubarak. He has gotten 25 distinctions from all over the world and was very well known in Egypt, he would be away from the press because that’s how he was. He died in 1992 and in honor of his I want to create a page for him to never be forgotten. --Mostafa Ahmed Nour (talk) 14:11, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

Mostafa Ahmed Nour, Wikipedia articles are summaries of what's written in secondary sources, such as the press. To make an article about someone, you'll have to find sources like that. Also keep in mind that having an article isn't necessarily a good thing, as anyone will be able to edit it and add things to it. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 🛸 14:44, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

About Washington wildfires Backgrounds

Hey, I saw that around a month ago you reverted all of the background sections on wildfires in Washington because, 'remove AI-generated background section, which was not specific to this subject.' I just wanted to let you know that the background wasn't AI-generated and that it was a copy-and-pasted template that I used on all Washington wildfire-by-year articles. The original background section was created by User:Bri: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2025_Washington_wildfires&oldid=1289190629 CostalCal (talk) 06:40, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Yeah that was me. Not AI generated; 100% meat logic. ☆ Bri (talk) 19:49, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
These edits were identified as problematic while investigating LLM misuse. Regardless, adding content about things we deem related to the subject but not actually pertaining to it (as determined by inclusion in reliable sources about the subject) goes against WP:OR and WP:NPOV. No consensus?

Under Talk:2025 ITF Fujairah Championships – Doubles#Merge you closed it as no consensus, despite two people supporting a merge with clear reasoning and one opposing, and you asked the opposer a question to which they didn't respond. That sounds like a consensus to merge. Also, you're involved, so I don't think you're allowed to close the discussion. Wikieditor662 (talk) 05:09, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Fan of your work

Hey! I am a editor who is currently working on the Quicksilver article (Quicksilver (Marvel Comics)), and I was wondering if you could give me a few pointers as to what I should change. I was actually recommended here from User:Pokelego999 and I've been trying to mimic your Iron Man article. I'm also working on the Moon Knight article however since that is a much larger task I want to get this one done with. I've also been debating potentially merging Peter Maximoff (article) with Quicksilver as was done with the Peacemaker article but I'm unsnure ModlordD (talk) 02:09, 9 March 2026 (UTC)

In my opinion, publication history is the most important section of a comic book character's article, since it details how the character was used and lets the article describe the character's history in an out-of-universe perspective, instead of having their history be described as a character biography. So I start by finding sources that detail how Marvel used the character. I've found the most luck with a mix of overview articles, books, and Marvel handbooks. Other sections like themes and supporting characters will often develop naturally while collecting info from these sources. Then I'll find individual reviews to cover other major series or one-shots so there are no big gaps in the history. Iron Man#References and Black Widow (Natasha Romanova)#References are probably the ones where I went the most in-depth, if you want to see examples of what kind of sources I've used. As far as a merge, I'd say it's not top priority but will probably need to be done eventually. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 02:36, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for your information! I have started working heavily on the publication history for Quicksilver, you can see it now. BTW, since I added the template for the construction thing, I thought maybe now would be a good time to merge the Pietro Maximoff article into the main one. I know you said it isn't top priority but seeing as the template is there and the other article presumably won't be getting anymore major edits since the character will likely not be returning in any other Marvel project, I think its fair ModlordD (talk) 22:59, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
It's looking really good already! If needed, I can help provide relevant excerpts from some sources if you're unable to access them. WP:IAACCESS can get you a lot through the Internet Archive, as can the Wikipedia Library if you haven't accessed that yet. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 01:03, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Thank you! I've tried finding official Marvel handbooks for some info but I can't find any I can access ModlordD (talk) 02:53, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Internet Archive has a few, and the Marvel Wiki has lists of every handbook the character is mentioned in, but most of them cover more or less the same details. Marvel Encyclopedia (2019) is unrestricted. There are a few other handbooks hosted on Internet Archive (, ), but you'll need to follow the instructions at WP:IAACCESS to access their full contents. I suggest doing a full text search on the handbooks or checking their indexes, as other characters' entries sometimes mention the character in other contexts. While searching, I also happened to find he's mentioned several times in The Avengers and philosophy. Wizard magazine is free on IA and has several hits for Quicksilver. Magazines like this require a little more work to find anything useful, but they might be worth flipping through if you use everything else and still feel more is needed. TwoMorrows publications are valuable bit more difficult to find. I'm aware of two that have a few paragraphs about Quicksilver; I've sent you the relevant text by email since we can't paste large passages of copyrighted sources here (note that if you reply to the email it will send from the email address linked to your account, so don't reply if you don't want anyone knowing your email address or what name is attached to it). Thebiguglyalien (talk) 04:28, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
tysm! any other advice you think you can give based on how the article is looking rn? should I add a supporting characters ModlordD (talk) 01:09, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
A supporting characters or relationships section would probably be helpful, at the very least to describe how he relates to Wanda, Magneto, Crystal, and any teams where he's a notable member. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 01:51, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
nearing finishing up any other possible edit I could add to this page. What should I do about the merger with Peter Maximoff? No one has seemed to respond to the discussion ModlordD (talk) 01:21, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
Merge proposals don't get nearly as much attention as they need (you can view open ones at Wikipedia:Proposed article mergers if you ever want to weigh in). If a merge is likely to be uncontroversial, any editor is welcome to carry it out themselves without further discussion. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 01:26, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Can The Aerodrome be cited?

Hi!

I am a novice editor, and I wanted to know if The Aerodrome cam be cited in articles about WW1 flying aces Sketpick (talk) 16:20, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

Sketpick, it looks like Aerodrome isn't considered reliable for Wikipedia's purposes. When you're unsure about whether a source is reliable, the reliable sources noticeboard is a good place to ask. I checked the noticeboard's archives and there was a discussion a few years ago that determined it's unreliable because it's self-published without any sort of editorial oversight. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 17:57, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Thank you
I'll try to find reliable sources Sketpick (talk) 01:22, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
The thing is, I am actually interested in ww1 flying aces, but I find a lot of then on the list in wikpedia without citations or articles. I have been wanting to fix this. But as a novice editor, I am not sure about which sites to reference. Most aces cite books, but then again I cannot That easily get my hand on them
Could you tell me which websites I can refer and cite for this topic? Sketpick (talk) 01:08, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
The Internet Archive has a library that allows you to borrow a lot of books (but for most of them you first have to follow the process at WP:IAACCESS). Once you have 500 edits, you'll have access to the Wikipedia Library which has huge collections of resources. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 01:15, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
I'll refer it
All the same, any reliable websites for this topic? Sketpick (talk) 09:20, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Philkd (19:48, 12 March 2026)

Note: Philkd's mentor Ampimd is away.

Hi. I had a company create a page for my friend musician Roland Vazquez. I then edited it a lot and added to it. Now I want to create a page for each of his recordings so we can link to them from his page. I can code the pages ok, but I need help being able to make a new page myself. If not that, then perhaps someone can create the pages for me using the coding I supply? (I hope this all makes sense.) --Phil --Philkd (talk) 19:48, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

Philkd, make sure you read all of Wikipedia's conflict of interest rules (including that if you're getting any compensation for this, you have to declare it on your user page). Wikipedia volunteers are very skeptical of people who might be using Wikipedia for promotional purposes. Also be very wary of companies offering to create Wikipedia articles. Most of them are scams, and they have no power to keep the article if it doesn't meet Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines—articles only qualify to be on Wikipedia if there's significant independent coverage of the subject in reliable sources (like news coverage or in-depth reviews that the subject had no involvement with). To create a page, you can use the article wizard tool, which will let you submit it for approval. But recordings are even harder to include, as every individual recording will need significant independent coverage on its own. Also be aware that any content that doesn't correspond to a citation has a high probability of being removed. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 20:11, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
I have added to my user page. I am not getting paid. The recordings pages will be bare-boned, without editorial comment. Thanks for your response. Philkd (talk) 20:23, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Mmyronov (19:57, 12 March 2026)

Hi! Small question. If I accidentally hit enter and submit an edit while still writing out the summary, I can just undo it and then resubmit it with the proper summary, right? Asking because I just did that. Or is there a warrant out for my arrest? Thank you in advance. --Mmyronov (talk) 19:57, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

Mmyronov, you're good, you didn't even get put on any government lists! In the future, you can use a dummy edit if you need to put a new edit summary in the history. Alternatively, you can make a post on the article's talk page if a more in-depth explanation of your edits would be helpful and you have any concerns about how to best implement them. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 20:14, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks! Cheers. Mmyronov (talk) 05:43, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi, i have submitted a draft for a biography article. How and where do I disclose my connection/relation to the subject? --Sravan (talk) 08:07, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

Sravan, the page Wikipedia:Conflict of interest has all of the details. The most important thing is that if you're in any way getting paid or otherwise compensated by the subject, then it needs to be mentioned somewhere at the page User:Sravan. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 18:04, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Hodgsonkr234 on Nelson, British Columbia (18:06, 31 March 2026)

What are ways I can improve the Nelson, BC wiki page? --Hodgsonkr234 (talk) 18:06, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Hello Hodgsonkr234! One way you can contribute is to read the article and fix any issues with grammar or tone. If there are parts where it's not written well or it seems like the article is trying to "talk up" the city, you can reword them so it's more formal. Another option would be to find independent reliable sources about the city to add important information that might be missing. If you're not sure how to add content and sources, you can look at Help:Introduction, and if it doesn't answer any questions you might have then the Teahouse is a good place for answers on how to do whatever you're trying to do. Congratulations, Thebiguglyalien! The list you nominated, Timeline of the John Adams presidency, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best lists on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.

How do you write citations?

I'm working on my next article, Kingpin (character). In this, I have multiple citations for Marvel Year by Year, and so naturally I tried to just put that as the citation for every single thing supporting it. But then I decided that I should check your Iron Man article to see how you put the citations in. You used an sfn template and that allowed to you to put page numbers, as far as I can tell. But I've been trying to figure out how I can do a similar thing, but I've honestly been very lost. If you could point me in the right direction that would be appreciated ModlordD (talk) 00:34, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Why hasn't the article Asian relations with Northeast India been merged in Foreign relations of India

When the outcome of the discussion available at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Foreign_relations_of_India#Delete/merge_subversive_POV_coattail_article was to merge the article, why hasn't it been done yet? ~2026-21460-02 (talk) 14:55, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

It's simply because no one has done it yet. Normally I'd say you're welcome to do it, but the target article is protected so you'd need to create an account and get some experience editing. Either way, someone will presumably get around to it at some point as they go through the list of pending mergers. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 03:46, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from CyberGator (01:45, 14 April 2026)

Hello BigUglyAlien (great name), on some pages, I see citations on nearly every sentence, but some others with fact-filled information do not. How do you know when you actually cite a source vs. not? --CyberGator (talk) 01:45, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

CyberGator, the expectation is that you should always cite new information you add, but people don't always do it. This is especially common with older content, written back when this wasn't enforced as strictly. The main exception is the opening paragraphs of an article, which is supposed to summarize the information that's sourced lower in the page. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 03:45, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello, you might want to review the basic guidelines at WP:42 and the guide to conflict of interest. Anyone you're writing about will need to meet these requirements, which generally means they're already successful and widely-known, not just "up and coming". Hey, so after I made Quicksilver into a GA article largely with your assistance, I decided to work on Kingpin next. This was my first attempt making an article without constantly asking others for help lol but I was wondering now if you could look at it.

One note if you do decide to look at it. I'm aware that Other versions and Powers and abilities have some uncited statements; someone decided to "condense" those sections recently and they got rid of some citations with it. ModlordD (talk) 02:53, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

It looks good to me! Thebiguglyalien (talk) 04:49, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
thx for looking at it! ModlordD (talk) 20:23, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from CyberGator (22:58, 20 April 2026)

How do you create a citation for a social media post? Oftentimes, basic information can be found from a direct source on their own social media profiles or posts. Would like to know how you would go about citing basic information about a person from their social media. --CyberGator (talk) 22:58, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

CyberGator, on the occasions where it's an appropriate source, you can use templates like {{Cite tweet}} or {{Cite Instagram}}. If none of the existing templates fit your need exactly, you can fall back on {{Cite web}} and fill out the fields that are relevant. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 23:16, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

You have been cited

Does this make you a high-quality, reliable source? Hope you don't mind, see second bullet at Wikipedia:The Core Contest/CompetitionStart, which I just sent out.

In any case, was sad to see your name not on the participants list :( Aza24 (talk) 00:19, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

While I won't deny that I'm high-quality and reliable, I don't think it counts if I'm cited by UGC. :P But yeah, core articles are exactly where this sort of thing applies the most. I've found that I have trouble focusing on an article if I have a specific timeframe, so I'm not very good at things like Core Contest. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 00:59, 24 April 2026 (UTC)

CZ 805 BREN and CZ 807 merge performed

Hello, just performed the merge for these two articles. Please check if I’ve done it correctly, or if there’s a need for clean up. ~2026-25349-69 (talk) 07:55, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

I've changed CZ 807 so now it redirects to CZ 805 BREN. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 13:43, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
Thanks. I’ve changed the redirect to be more specific to the CZ 807 variant subsection. Kindly check if I’ve done it correctly here. ~2026-25345-13 (talk) 21:24, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
Looks good! Thebiguglyalien (talk) 21:46, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from NextWeekEastLynneO2 (16:10, 30 April 2026)

Hello! I've noticed that when I add the articles The Heir of Morocco and The Siege of Urbin to a category, both are sorted under "T", as opposed to "H" and "S", respectively. Please let me know how I might resolve this issue! --NextWeekEastLynneO2 (talk) 16:10, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

Looks like you got it figured out. Let me know if there's anything else, there can be a lot of little things like this that take some finding. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 23:22, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from CyberGator (03:31, 3 May 2026)

How do you cite information in court documents? --CyberGator (talk) 03:31, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

The best approach is to find secondary sources that write about the relevant case and cite those. But if you just want to grab a quick simple detail from a document, you can use templates like {{Cite court}} or {{Cite document}}. The one major caveat is to avoid using court documents to write about living people (see WP:BLPPRIMARY). Thebiguglyalien (talk) 04:24, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Question from Arixayo on List of World Heritage in Danger (16:47, 5 May 2026)

Hi! I am copyediting List of World Heritage in Danger for the Guild of Copy Editors' Drive. Would you mind taking a look at the page and telling me if you think I should create another section with the information from the introduction? I already made a "Criticism" section and some information there. However, I think a section on the process of deciding how a site makes the danger list would be good, like moving the third paragraph into its own section. This is my first Wikipedia article that I'm working on in a major way, and I wanted to get input from a more experienced editor. Thanks! --Arixayo (talk) 16:47, 5 May 2026 (UTC)

Lists are a little different from other articles. Normally you should make sure everything in the lead is just a summary of the article's body, but in this case it's normal for the lead of a list to provide context on its own rather than being part of individual sections. If you want additional opinions on something about a page, you can make a post on the talk page at Talk:List of World Heritage in Danger, and discussion can take place there. ITN as good as Paul?

French Paul?

A 90% success rate seems pretty good, considering ITN's reputation. There are worse psychics out there. CMD (talk) 02:52, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

Wouldn't bet money on his predictions though. And more importantly, it got the point across without having to go into a rant. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 03:03, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

Question from Synotication (14:44, 9 May 2026)

J'ello Thebiguguyalien :D

Synotication here.

I'm a new guy who's decided to start working Wikipedia occasionally, mainly because I wanna help fix grammar errors by aspiring Wikipedians, provide information about my local cultural stuff first-hand, and also kinda prove to the world that some Gen Alphas are NOT DOOMED YET (but ignore that, lol).

So, I've decided to begin creating my User Page.

It's going to take a few days (a few hours if I'm in the zone), though I need some tips and tricks on how to make an article / user page.

How do you use that sidebar thingy with all the info n stuff? How does the Wikipedia Editor UI work? What infobox templates are necessary for the user page? Can I have a dedicated page for occasional userbox meme posting or smth to remind people that I'm not dead yet? (okay, *maybe* don't include that.) What about me can I put and what about me can I not put?

Seriously, I have a habit of putting humor in my stuff. Sometimes dark humor. Idk.

There's a lot more I'd like to ask, though I don't really wanna burden you with them all. Most of them are pretty stupid, actually. (I'm serious. Why am I asking if I could put a low quality burning microwave image next to the infobox captioned "air conditioning"?)

So if you're here for it, thx!

Sincerely,

- Synotication :D

(Okay, is this thing even a question anymore, or a letter? I dunno.) --Synotication (talk) 14:44, 9 May 2026 (UTC)

J'ello Synotication! I'm glad you're getting involved. Articles and user pages are two different things, so it's important you know which one you're working on: articles are the actual pages we're writing for Wikipedia (like Earth) while user pages are our individual profiles where we explain who we are and what we like to do on Wikipedia (like mine at User:Thebiguglyalien). You can pretty much do what you like with your user page as long as it's not inappropriate or anything like that. To practice with the editor, there's Wikipedia:Sandbox where you can make test edits freely without worrying about breaking anything.
If you're adding information in articles, make sure to only add things you found in reliable sources, not just things you know personally. I'd go slowly with the humor; Wikipedia editors respond to a specific kind of dry humor that you pick up on over time. And since you're Gen Alpha, I encourage you to read Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors. If you want more general feedback on a question, WP:TEAHOUSE is where a bunch of editors hang out to answer questions. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 00:26, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

Question from Baba3d (23:03, 12 May 2026)

Hello! I found an article that isn't really notable and it doesn't get much traffic and its only recent edits were vandalism. How do I mark this for deletion? This is the article in question: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manual_focus_override Thanks! baba - t 23:03, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

Baba3d, to nominate an article for deletion, you can follow the steps at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion#Process. Alternatively, you can go to the gadgets tab of your preferences and activate the Twinkle option. One of its features is that it lets you do the entire deletion process in a single form on the page. Before you nominate it for deletion, make sure you check to see if this is a subject discussed in reliable sources, especially in books or articles about photography. Once it's been tagged, your job is done and other editors will also check and weigh in on whether there's enough sourcing to keep it or if it should be deleted.
