The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. The result of the move request was: not moved. Per WP:SNOW. Again, we use common names in English. (closed by non-admin page mover) Remsense   01:37, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

Tibet Autonomous RegionXizang Autonomous RegionXizang Autonomous Region – Xizang is the official name now, see Coddlebean (talk) 01:35, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it bears mention at this point that this isn't User:Coddlebean's first (or fifth) totally unviable move request. I strongly suggest that they familiarize themselves with our naming conventions policy in earnest, because their requests do not indicate a good faith attempt to do so, or an understanding that RMs require other editors' time to deal with and close. It's been noticeably disruptive in the past, and it's only gotten moreso. Remsense   01:42, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
Doesn't the current name of the Article conflict with the naming scheme for other articles on relating to Chinese autonomous regions (it's not Sinkiang but rather Xinjiang, or "Southern Mongolia" but rather Inner Mongolia) and other articles relating to names of nations like Eswatini and Turkiye previously being Swaziland and Turkey.
It's also more precise and concise as that is the official name for the region within the People's Republic of China which is different from the separatist attempt to create a nation or the previous nation that existed in the area.
Sure it might not be as natural and recognizable in the English language now but it will be as China's importance on the world stage continues to rise as well as both of these concepts being malleable concepts that change over time.
I will finish this with just because it's work doesn't mean you should shirk it. Sussis Amogus (talk) 11:31, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
i Must admit, arguing with "China is important, so their Word goes" For what is, arguably, an illegally occupied territory, seems... Not good. ~2025-39989-28 (talk) 20:41, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

Historical Population

For reasons beyond my understanding, the historical Population Data Shows a decline in Population of Tibet by 2/3rds between 1910 and 1928. That this is very blatantly ridiculous i feel is obvious. This should be rectified, and very importantly, what is meant by "Tibet" should be clarified, as the definition of what territories comprise "Tibet" has Changed massively over time. Additionally, Tibet held various territories During the Chinese civil war which also need to be accounted For, and Population numbers For all of These variances of "Tibet" should at Minimum be considered to be included aswell. ~2025-39989-28 (talk) 20:39, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

It appears to be a typo and one decimal place off. Vacosea (talk) 21:24, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
