Talk:Tyler Robinson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Who is Tyler Robinson?

I obviously landed in a loop. I read at Imagine Dragons#Philanthropy, that the Imagine Dragons co-founded the Tyler Robinson Foundation. So I typed his name in the search bar, landed on this site, were it just says that he's the co-founder of the Tyler Robinson foundation. And the link to the foundation just brings me back to the Imagine Dragons. This should somehow be fixed 'cause firstly it's confusing as f*ck and secondly it's absolutely non-informative. Can we have Tyler Robinson (businessman) removed please. Both he, and the company he owns (Main Event Wrestling), redirect to List of independent wrestling promotions in the United States#Ohio where the company doesn't even get mentioned. If neither him nor his company are notable, we really don't need an entry here. FDW777 (talk) 18:37, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

Padlock banner

Pinging @DatGuy who added the banner, is there a reason for why you changed it from the regular padlock topicon? Readers probably won't know about our specific policies, and, if anything, it might give unwanted attention to the issue. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 19:59, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

@Chaotic Enby: I find the banner with the BLP-specific wording to be clearer than a padlock in this situation. To the reader, it explains why there is a notable omission, and a link to the policy for more information. To the good-faithed editor, it visibly encourages them to look through the protection log, aforementioned policy, and other useful links in order to dissuade them from attempting to add the subject at hand. Thanks for the explanation! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 20:22, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

I just want an explanation

Why isn't there any mention to the man accused of murdering Charlie Kirk? We should say accused because, according to the law, he is innocent until proven guilty. Mention Wikipedia's policy when it comes to people like him. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 08:58, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

The second part of your comment answers the first! We are not a news platform and don't want to include information that is uncertain about living people. In this case, too little is known for sure about the suspect (who hasn't even been charged as of writing this) to allow mentioning him under WP:BLPCRIME. There's currently a discussion about including him ongoing at talk:killing of charlie kirk, I believe, so that might change, but we don't work on a deadline, so we don't have to rush. --Licks-rocks (talk) 11:32, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
Since this is a disambiguation page, there is no point in adding an entry to reference the assassination of Charlie Kirk until the name of the accused assassin is added to the article. Green Montanan (talk) 14:10, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
Don't worry, many other editors have tried to add this particular person to this disambig page. And to be clear, my particular addition, now also deleted, cited him as simply a suspect, in compliance of WP:PERP associated with a renowned international figure. The notability level is high. .digamma (talk) 16:13, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
Since your deleted post referred to a named, living, unconvicted person as "the assassin", it might be time to get off your high horse. FDW777 (talk) 16:55, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
Only include in disambig once/if referencd in main article as the consensus lies there. CNC (talk) 17:28, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
I still think the topic of trying to figure out the rationale for removing an entry for the suspect, pointing to the other Wikipedia article, is valid. The suspect's name is still mentioned in the earlier linked article's sources. Regardless of the edit status of that article's editors' preference on naming the suspect, this is the person, and the whole "Suspect" section of the article refers to the same person, saying that the person "isn't named" isn't true, and not really an honest rationale anyway. --Nidaana (talk) 06:52, 14 September 2025 (UTC)

Just needed some patience - it was only a matter of time before sanity prevailed. Green Montanan (talk) 12:39, 14 September 2025 (UTC)

Edit request

Someone please change the Killing of Charlie Kirk#Suspect link to Killing of Charlie Kirk#Accused; the subsection was renamed. Wikiuser815 (talk) 08:37, 17 September 2025 (UTC)

Done. WWGB (talk) 08:46, 17 September 2025 (UTC)

Move discussion in progress

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Tyler James Robinson which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 18:26, 18 September 2025 (UTC)

What I think should happen if Tyler James Robinson is convicted and is given a page

IF Tyler James Robinson is convicted for Kirk's assassination, and is given a page, his page should be called "Tyler James Robinson" instead of Tyler Robinson in order to not cause confusion with other pages with that name. We can also move the second paragraph on the Accused section of Kirk's assassination page to there since it's just biographic information. PublicDomainFan08 (talk) 07:23, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
