World Wrestling Entertainment
Does WWE really belong here? Perhaps a reword such as
World Wrestling Federation - now known as World Wrestling Entertainment
would be better - NickSentowski 05:44, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- no i think wwf should redirect to wwe 172.82.7.211 (talk) 19:22, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
Words With Friends
Apparently some iOS game is named "words with friends", I don't doubt that, but I doubt it's notable enough even for a disambiguation page. Is this game ever referred to with this acronym rather than it's full title? Larryisgood (talk) 12:33, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
- It does have an article (Words With Friends), but I don't see any indication that it's being referred to as WWF. Not that I'm completely opposed to it being added here, just not sure if it would be all that helpful. — Satori Son 12:56, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I deleted it. This isn't a page for all the things one can possibly acronym to WWF. Also, I don't think words like "with" or "the" are included in an acronym so "words with friends" should just be WF Larryisgood (talk) 19:55, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
- It's commonly shortened to #WWF on Twitter, though i doubt that is a reliable source. hbdragon88 (talk) 22:00, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
- are two instances where I found it shortened to WWF. hbdragon88 (talk) 22:06, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
- Right, yes I deleted the link to words with friends because I reckoned it was irrelevant but we'll not fall out over it, feel free to undo my edit. Larryisgood (talk) 07:54, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

- Neither the article or the game publisher assert that is is also known as "WWF", and yet I'm getting 668k searches, so I'm a bit neutral on the issue. The Words With Friends article should probably add something like "popularly known as WWF" so that editors here don't delist it due to a lack of assertion. +mt 20:39, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

World Wide Fund for Nature → WWF
I think the current WWF article should be for the World Wide Fund for Nature, all other WWFs are quite minor compared to the Fund, it doesn't make sense they should have so much prominence. WWF also use "WWF" over their full name in most of their content. The existing WWF page should be renamed to WWF (disambiguation). The World Wide Fund for Nature is the most prominent WWF and uses "WWF" in most of its content, meeting WP:COMMONNAME. Icaldonta (talk) 22:43, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose WikiNav doesn't show a primary topic; roughly equal number of clicks for WWE as World Wide Fund for Nature. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:31, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. You could make a strong argument that WWE (formerly World Wrestling Federation; WWF) is the primary topic. 162 etc. (talk) 23:33, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- Weak Oppose Had WWE "World Wrestling Entertainment" does not exist, or having it as WWE from the its founding (not from 2002 renaming from WWF "World Wrestling Federation"), "World Wide Fund for Nature" may be WP:Primarytopic. But, in this case, it does not due to history of WWE being known as WWF until early 2000s, hence making WWF (Wrestling) more known than WWF (NGO) one, even until now. 103.111.102.118 (talk) 01:13, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose move per MOS:ACROTITLE. WWF is, if nothing else, not unambiguous enough to be the title for World Wide Fund for Nature, given the history of the World Wrestling Federation. I think it also fails the first test of "subject is known primarily by its abbreviation", given how common the name World Wildlife Fund still is in the US and Canada. WWF (non-profit) actually, to me, seems like a good title but I know that largely goes against current consensus. So the status quo is probably the best we can do at this time. Skynxnex (talk) 02:44, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- Strong oppose. Given the situation between the Fund and WWE, neither can reasonably be called the primary topic. O.N.R. (talk) 04:01, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose: there does not seem to be a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for WWF. Even if the fund was determined to be the primary topic, I would prefer making WWF a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT per MOS:ACROTITLE and Skynxnex's argument. Even outside US and Canada, World Wildlife Fund is common. Arnav Bhate (talk • contribs) 11:06, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
