Talk:Water resource policy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rationale

It seems that water policy and regulation is quite disorganized here on WP. I think there is a role for an article on WRP as developed in US Europe and Japan and disseminated to global. I may be wrong. See talk.GeoBardRap 02:57, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Reorganizing this article a bit

I started reorganizing the issues in water resource policy section. So far I've worked on environmental issues, but I'm also planning on making sections about privatization, water as a human right, and diplomatic issues. Eventually I'm planning on working on the Institutional Participants and Structural Constraints parts as well to add citations and make it less US-focused. If you have any more suggestions, let me know. Gggg2123 (talk) 21:08, 27 November 2019 (UTC)

Introduction Contains Biased/Opiniated Concluding Sentence

"Mitigation and updated water resource policies will require interdisciplinary and international collaboration, including government officials, environmental scientists, sociologists, economists, climate modelers, and activists."

The word "require" suggests that this is the only solution. This could be improved by rephrasing to "could involve" or "could require." As written this sentence excludes other possible methods or mitigation or implementing policy.--Brookewilder (talk) 09:14, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Requested move 16 March 2025

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: no consensus. The discussion appears to have stalled out without clear support for the move; instead, a merge proposal has been floated. I'm closing this discussion so that a merge can be discussed (and carried out, if consensus for it emerges) without there also existing a conflicting RM; if no consensus for a merge is found, users should feel free to revisit this RM. Hatnotes have been added between the relevant articles (water resources, water resource policy, and water politics) to aid navigation in the interim. Water resource policyWater policyWater policy – Took me a while to find this article and I guess other laypeople might benefit from a simpler name. • The article says it is also called "water management" but that leads elsewhere, same as with 'water policy" which leads elsehwere -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 06:17, 22 March 2025 (UTC)
I agree with what was said. I think both articles discuss the same idea, being politics that concern water and different issues related to water. Through merging the articles there is one strong article rather than two articles which are missing the last details. Jas24A (talk) 08:44, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
@Jas24A I am a bit confused - do you support or oppose this rename proposal? Chidgk1 (talk) 15:15, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
My apologies, I misunderstood the proposal. I think it might be useful to combine the two articles (i.e. water resource policy and water politics) into one article as they discuss the same aspects in most parts. I don't know if that is possible though. If not, a clearer distinction through renaming one of the articles might help. Jas24A (talk) 15:26, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
