WWDC before 1988?
It's stated that WWDC began in 1983, but the table of events only goes back to 1988? This makes the article a bit confusing to read. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.251.100.61 (talk) 14:03, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- In 1988, the Apple developer conference was called the "Spring Developers Conference '88" and it was held at the Fairmont San Jose hotel in downtown San Jose, CA (I still have some of the conference materials to prove that). The first conference for Apple developers at the San Jose Convention Center was in 1989 (I don't remember exactly what it was called, but it wasn't Worldwide Developers Conference). In 1990, it was called "The 1990 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference" because Apple had been having regional developers conference around the world (Japan, Europe, etc.) before that. I was on the planning committee for the WWDC in 1990.
- I'll see if I can get more historical proof from friends who ran the conferences in earlier years. Jumplong (talk) 17:09, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- I verified some facts with Renee Rodrigue who was in charge of Apple's developers conferences from 1988 through 1992. Before 1988, Lia Lorenzanou had been responsible for spring and fall developers conferences.
- After the 1988 spring conference, the decision was made to do one big conference a year, marketed worldwide, held in the Bay Area. David Szetela came up with the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) name
- In 1988, it was the "Spring Developers Conference '88"
- In 1989 and after, it was the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). I found a '89 WWDC bag in my garage so I know that's when the name changed. Jumplong (talk) 14:37, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- I have a letter pre-dating the first meeting on this list. It's dated April 21, 1983 and thanks attendees. I've posted it a couple of places. 107.5.218.127 (talk) 04:15, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

The 2003 WWDC was scheduled to be in San Jose from May 19-23, but the location and dates were changed at a very late date, causing some attendees to complain about having to change travel plans at the last minute. --Luciuskwok 16:33, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Baseline Mac Pro?
What exactly do y'all mean whhen you say "baseline" Mac Pros? Do you mean the lowest settings possible or the retail settings? 24.175.75.238 23:29, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Apple has assigned a baseline configuration for the Mac Pro, the 2.66 GHz, 1 Gb RAM configuration. This is the model that would be found in retail stores, all other configurations are build-to-order. Beta34 23:37, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Your data corresponds to the default configuration (including a 250GB 7200UPM S-ATA hard drive), which is currently priced at ca. $2500. The data in the article corresponds to the minimum configuration (i.e. what you get when you select slower processors and less hard disk capacity), which comes at a discount of several hundred dollars compared to the default configuration.
- I also thought "baseline" refers to the default configuration, until I read the technical data in the article (which I know is the minimum). Now if the both of us got confused about this, it suggests that the wording is ambiguous. "Minimal configuration" would be more readily understood. Aragorn2 19:19, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- By default configuration, I mean "retail configuration", just to avoid introducing another source of confusion... It is identical to the configuration the Mac Pro online customization page defaults to. Aragorn2 19:22, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
NPOV
This article, especially the WWDC 2006 section, is written with a heavy bias towards Apple. Themodernizer 02:48, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't see any particular bias towards Apple. I mean, is it not an Apple event? There isn't even any issue to debate, the WWDC 2006 section is pretty much just a summary of the Keynote speech, and the reported facts and figures therein. --Beta34 23:37, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- Huh? How exactly do you feel the article is "heavily biased" towards Apple, apart from the fact that it doesn't say how great Windows Vista will be when it finally comes out? The WWDC 2006 section is mostly just a list of market facts and product information that were announced at this event. "NPOV" does not mean "never mention anything that could make Apple products sound fun or useful", anyway. Aragorn2 19:32, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
2002?
I could have sworn there was a WWDC in 2002...
- Their was, but at this point no one added information about it. I think Apple announced it stopped all development of OS 9, previewed Jaguar, and announced development of rack mounted servers; but if someone could confirm this with sources. WikipedianYknOK 03:00, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
2007?
I've heard that a prominent wall street analyst and some other people have made predictions as to what will happen in this years WWDC. Would that sort of thing belong here? Mathwhiz90601 09:32, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
WWDC 2007
About an hour or two after the World Wide Doveloper's Conference today, I updated the WWDC 07 section with the products and features that Jobs introduced today. Later, someone reverted the change. Just incase you're wondering, the WWDC 07 has already happened. It needed to be updated.

Rename Article
Needs to be renamed from "Worldwide Developers Conference" (implies it applies to *ALL* developers) to "Apple Worldwide Developers Conference" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.170.252.213 (talk) 04:38, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Stepwise
Several of the references point to stepwise.com. Stepwise.com has been deleted (not just taken offline) so those references now point to a 404. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.36.87.81 (talk) 11:09, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Stepwise.com References
Stepwise.com is dead, it appears. I don't know if this is from today, but it certainly came as a shock to me. LeftClicker (talk) 20:18, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and one more thing ...
How can an article on the Worldwide Developers Conference and not mention the introduction of the first iPhone
- "Oh, and one more thing ... " ?
- At WWDC 2002, Steve Jobs famously kicked off the event by giving a eulogy for Mac OS 9 as part of the transition to OS X; in 2009, Snow Leopard — the last version of OS X before Apple’s rebranding of “iPhone OS” to “iOS” — was officially unveiled at WWDC in front of over 5,200 developers; and in October 2010, Lion, the eighth major release of OS X, was formally announced and demoed at Apple’s self-hosted “Back to the Mac” media event.
