Hi guys - I hope you won't delete this listing, as I think Zip is a very interesting case.
I have no vested interest in Zip appearing in Wikipedia apart from simple curiosity: I've personally been employed to make the videos for Zip (that's what I do) but I don't stand to benefit from their appearance or otherwise on Wikipedia.
Two years ago, at a gig in Kuala Lumpur I heard about the Zip HydroTap and invited myself out there to pitch a TV commercial to them! You can see my original TVC here (that's my wife in the video) - they didn't use the TVC but I was able to get some work making videos for Zip, which is how I came to know the company.
Zip operates out of a small factory in Sydney where appliances are made which go out to the rest of the world and are used by my wife (!) and the Queen of England (there is a Zip boiling water tap in Buckingham Palace, although I've never seen it).
In a world where competition encourages cheap off-shore imports, Zip makes their own boiling water heaters and these are used all over the world; in Sydney Opera House (I've seen them there myself), The Burj Dubai - haven't been there yet, sadly; the Taipei 101 building, in radio stations like London's Kiss FM - as a matter of fact Zip exports their water heaters to China! All other appliance traffic in Australia goes the other way...
The company is mentioned in Michael Crouch's page (I wrote the original but think it's been edited several times since) and employs 400 people, so deserves a mention IMO.
Anyway I came across the company in my travels and think they deserve a write-up on Wiki!
Hope you agree.
AND - hope I've done this the right way!
Thanks,

I'm still not convinced this is notable, but I will say that you've improved the article significantly in the past few minutes and it is now much less like an advertisement. I'll let others weigh in at this point. Zachlipton (talk) 05:19, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Zach

Zip Industries → Zip Water – I am requesting that this page be moved from "Zip Industries" to "Zip Water" to align with, following the acquisition by Culligan International in 2017 and a brand refresh in 2022, independent reliable sources predominantly refer to the subject as "Zip Water."
Evidence of common usage:
- 'Appliance Retailer (2017): "Zip Industries... announced that it will join forces with Culligan... expanding Zip's product range" (Ref: https://www.applianceretailer.com.au/culligan-acquires-100-zip-industries/).
- FMJ (2022): "Zip Water launches new brand look... Zip Water UK's Head of Marketing explains" (Ref: https://www.fmj.co.uk/zip-water-launches-new-brand-look-to-celebrate-75-years-of-innovation/).
- Architecture & Design: Lists the supplier explicitly as "Zip Water" (Ref: https://www.architectureanddesign.com.au/supplier/zip-water).
- NSW Parliament: Hansard records refer to "Zip Water, an Australian company" (Ref: https://api.parliament.nsw.gov.au/api/hansard/search/daily/pdf/HANSARD-1323879322-107606).
The company should be referred to as Zip Water because this is the primary trading name and the brand by which the business is publicly recognised in its key markets. While the legal entity is Zip Industries, the company’s products, marketing, website, and global operations are presented under the Zip Water name.
Using Zip Water aligns with Wikipedia naming conventions, which prioritise the most commonly used and recognisable name in reliable sources and public communications. The brand name is also the one associated with its flagship products (such as HydroTap) and international presence following its acquisition by Culligan International in 2017.
Referencing the company as “Zip Water" provides clarity, accuracy, and consistency with how the business is identified by customers, partners, media, and industry stakeholders.
Based on this, "Zip Industries" should be retained as a redirect. The current page content reflects legacy branding and will be updated separately to reflect this move.] (]) Zpwtrgy (talk) 00:33, 27 February 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 00:38, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
Proposed updates to remove promotional language
| The user below has a request that an edit be made to Zip Water. That user has an actual or apparent conflict of interest. Summary of request: Replace specific mentions of product brand names The requested edits backlog is very high. Please be extremely patient. There are currently 409 requests waiting for review. Please read the instructions for the parameters used by this template for accepting and declining them, and review the request below and make the edit if it is well sourced, neutral, and follows other Wikipedia guidelines and policies. |
In addition to the move request, I have identified that the current "Business Development" section contains promotional-style product listing. The inclusion of specific brand names (e.g. Birko, Instanta) reads as marketing rather than encyclopaedic content.
As per Wikipedia's neutral point of view and notability guidelines, I propose replacing the list of individual product brands with a concise, neutral summary of the company's manufacturing scope and operations. This would improve tone, reduce promotional language, and better align the article with encyclopaedic standards.
- Current Text: Zip Industries also markets: water chillers... under the Birko brand... retail food service... under the Instanta brand.
- Proposed Text: The company manufactures water dispensing systems for residential and commercial markets. Following its expansion, it diversified into water chillers and commercial boiling units.
I invite independent editors to review this change to resolve the 'Promotional content' maintenance tag.

- I have added the {{Edit COI}} tag and refactored some other headings on the talk page. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 09:12, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
Partly done: I've replaced the text as requested, but moved it up to the lede as I believe the paragraph was too short to have its own section. Thanks, Encoded Talk 💬 22:50, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
