Etymology

In old Czech, the word 'tat' meant a thief and tatec was a diminutive of tat. So the name Tatce meant "the village of little thieves".[2]

Geography

Tatce is located about 17 kilometres (11 mi) northwest of Kolín and 32 km (20 mi) east of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape of the Central Elbe Table.

Sights

There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[7] A landmark is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, which dates from 1843.[8]
