A tetrachlorophenol is any organochloride of phenol that contains four covalently bonded chlorine atoms. Tetrachlorophenols are produced by electrophilic halogenation of phenol with chlorine.[1] Different isomers of tetrachlorophenol exist according to which ring positions on the phenol contain chlorine atoms.
