The Dance Dress is a 1955 British television play based on a 1953 play by Michael Vosey.[1]
It was the first straight play for Shirley Eaton, who was under contract to Alex Korda, and the first play by Michael Vosey to be televised..[2][3]
"I was born and bought up on the edge of a slum," said Vosey who said the story was based on a true incident. "Viewers will see my story taking place in London."[4]
A young couple, Rickie and Fay, are in love. Fay wants a dance dress. Rickie kills a shopkeeper to get it. [5]
