The series follows the same broadly global motoring-adventure format as the preceding series, with the new presenters travelling to various locations and taking part in automotive challenges. Announced locations and activities include crossing the Angolan desert in track cars, exploring Malaysia's car culture, testing performance cars in California and taking part in challenges involving fighter pilots.[2]
Development
Following the conclusion of the original presenting trio's tenure with the sixth series, which ended with the special The Grand Tour: One for the Road in September 2024, Amazon announced a new presenting lineup for the programme. Engelsman and Holland, who are the presenters of the automotive YouTube channel Throttle House, were joined by Bourgeois, who is known primarily for his railway-related social media content.[3]
The seventh series was announced for release on 4 September 2026. Unlike the earlier run of the programme, the new series features a new presenting team throughout its six episodes. Amazon described the new series as continuing the programme's combination of international adventures, unusual vehicles and large-scale challenges.[2]
