The Sudanist, previously known as 500 Words Magazine, is a non-profit independent[1] online publication that provides coverage on a variety of topics related to Sudan and South Sudan.[2][3] The magazine features articles on arts and culture,[4] society,[5] science and technology, business and economy,[6] and more.[7] The magazine's mission is to present in-depth stories about Sudan and South Sudan in 500 words or more.[8][9]

The magazine was founded by Moez Ali[10] and Mohamed Mahmoud on 1 June 2012,[11] but relaunched on 1 October 2018 by Ola Diab.[8]
