Thorigné-en-Charnie (French pronunciation: [tɔʁiɲe ɑ̃ ʃaʁni], before 1953: Thorigné)[3] is a commune in the Mayenne department in north-western France.

History
On 22 March 1796, a teenager named Perrine Dugué was murdered by three Chouans in a field between Thorigné and Sainte-Suzanne.[4] Her grave was rumored to have miraculous healing powers, and it quickly became a popular pilgrimage site.[4] Though never officially recognized by the church,[5] she was venerated as a patriotic martyr and referred to as "the saint with tricolor wings."[4]
