Prior to 19th century

19th century

  • 1801 - Vermont Sentinel newspaper begins publication.[5]
  • 1802 - Court house built.[4]
Grasse Mount (otherwise known as the Thaddeus Tuttle House) is a campus building of the University of Vermont (UVM)
  • 1804 - Grasse Mount built, now a campus building of the University of Vermont
  • 1810 - Population: 1,690.[6]
  • 1813 - August 2: Town besieged by British forces.
  • 1815 - September: University of Vermont begins operating again.[2]
