He won a silver medal in the 800 m at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics in Barcelona, finishing second to Nijel Amos,[2] before going on to win the bronze medal in the men's 800m race at the 2012 Summer Olympics.[3] Kitum also won the 800m at the Commonwealth Youth Games with a Games Record of 1:49.32.[citation needed]

Personal life

Kitum is married to Faith Kipyegon. Their daughter, Alyn, was born in June 2018.[4]
